DVCnews is reporting that the pricing of SSR is now $90/pt - the same as the recent pricing of OKW.

Trying to clear out inventory prior to the sales for Aulani or just difficulties in selling 3 onsite resorts at one time? Considering how many people have reported joining with the OKW pricing it'll be interesting to see if the same happens with SSR sales.

I happened to join b/c of the SSR pricing and the 100pt minimum.
It could have been cheaper through resale but I'm still thrilled!:woohoo:

We bought at SSR last weekend because of all the specials. We bought direct and got 20% off the purchase price plus double the points we bought for the first year plus Disney paid the closing costs. I think with the discounts it came out to about $70/point.

Good deal; how many points did you purchase?

We bought 200 pts. and got another 200 (2009 pts) free plus didn't have to pay the MF on the 2009 pts. We also received a $100 Disney Gift Card just for going to the presentation which we were going to do anyway.

how did you get 20% off?

The Disney timeshare sales guy (Tommy Costanza) at SSR just said we're having a special now which is 20% off plus the extra points, etc. I guess they're making the offer to everyone but I'm not sure. We didn't ask for any discounts, he just offered them up so we said 'heck yeah'.

Interesting...I thought that the 20% off is what got the quote down to 90$/point??

Can anyone confirm this price direct from Disney? I would be very tempted to do an add-on for that price!!

Are you giving value to the 2009 points your received to come up with the $70/pt?

The $90 price is a 20% discount off of the normal $112/pt price. Or did you actually buy 200 pts for a $14,000 cash outlay?

And Congrats on your purchase!

notaclue just confirmed that price was direct from Disney. Also the DVC News is confirming the $90 discounted price.

What I thought was really interesting was that Disney paid notaclue's closing costs for a new purchase. I've never seen that before, the only time I've seen Disney pay closing costs is for an add on.

I am interested in confirmation about the 70$/point (90 with 20% off) being confirmed by others. Anyone know? I wont be able to call my guide until tonight at best...

I think cel_disney is asking for a confirmation of the $70/pt direct price that notaclue said they received. (confirmed while I was typing! lol)

As for closing costs - Disney has continued to pay them for new members on the resorts that they consider "sold out". They only began charging them on the resorts they are currently selling. So it seems they are pricing SSR as if it were sold out.

OK, I'm still confused. SSR at $70 a point?? Seriously???
Yeah, that has my head buzzing, too. When attending a member event at the Grand California in April, my husband and I sorta agreed that $79/pt was our "buy it now" point. It kept us from an add-on for that night ... but might not be a proper guard against future purchases! :lmao:

Thinking about calling my guide. Maybe addontis will strke sooner than anticipated!:rotfl2:

I can't confirm anything about SSR at 70/pt, but in April a guide offered me 100 points of OKW at 90/pt and no closing cost (not an add-on).

We bought on Sunday and the price was $90/pt plus Disney paid the closing costs and gave us 2009 points.

If they are actually $70 somewhere I am going to be sad.

All I know is we bought 200 pts at SSR and paid $18,000 plus got an additional 200 pts for 2009 plus they paid the closing. We're newbies so we just figured that was standard. Maybe we got some of that famous pixie dust?

Uh.
18,000/200 = 90. NOT 70!

OOH bad math....mine. I think I was figuring in the free 200 pts from 2009 somehow. Sorry about that. This is the reason I don't do our taxes or balance the checkbook. Please wait while I get my foot out of my mouth.
