We have made our first ressies at SSR and I have certainly heard mixed reviews, are there any special requests I should make and can anyone confrim that the construction is complete

Is there anything in particular that is making you nervous? I stayed at SSR in May (cash reservation) and really enjoyed it. I liked it so much that I was oscillating between buying into SSR and AKV. I ended up buying at AKV because I loved my Savannah view room at AKL, but I was really debating about which resort to buy into.

We stayed there two years ago and there was lots of construction going on all over the place. We had no problems at all. Now, with just about all of it done (maybe only some landscaping or maintenance), it should be fine.

I'm pretty sure that all of the construction was done when we went to SSR in July. We were staying at OKW but we pool-hopped to SSR because my toddler just loves the new spray park fountains that they put in! I can't remember the name of the section that those are in, but you make a right as soon as you go through the gates of the resort to get there. I would love to stay at SSR anytime just because of this fountain area. Also, I really like SSR in general. It has a nice theme, it's new, and the pool areas are all nice. Walking to DTD from there is nice too. You'll have a fun trip I'm sure!

The only opinion that counts is yours. The consensus to many here is BWV is utopia - I did not like it at all. What is a positive to me may be a negative to you.

I really like SSR and prefer a DTD view but I am not picky (unless it is VWL garbage cans which I am done with) my son is hoping to be by the golf course...So the question is, do you want to be the first on the bus, the last on? Do you want to be by the feature pool? If you give folks a bit more info I am sure you can get some great feedback.

We have stayed twice in the Springs section, once in a unit that was one unit away from the stairs closest to the main pool. This was a great location since we were next to the DVC model so you didn't have to worry about people going by late at night. It was also very close to the bus stop and we were the last ones picked up. If you have small children and want the main pool, this is a great spot. Last time, we stayed in congress park with a view of DTD and right by a quiet pool. Although it was a shorter walk to DTD and a nice view, I think I prefer the closer location to the food court and pool. We haven't stayed in the newest section. My dh loves SSR and says this is the only place he likes to stay. He gets tired of all the disney theme and feels like SSR gives him a nice place to really relax without having to see mickey mouse everywhere (that's why we're trying BCV without him on our next stay). It's very peaceful and relaxing and my kids got the biggest kick out of seeing rabbits during our walks in the evenings, the surrey bike ride and playing at community hall.

We were there in July, had a wonderful time. All the construction is finished, all buildings open and each section special in its own way.

We were in the new section of Grandstand and they have a really nice pool there.

We have also been in Congress Park with beautiful views of Downtown Disney and in the Paddocks which we found very centrally located.

My DW and I have stayed at SSR, well... this weekend will make about 6 times this year. So people complain that SSR is not like a hotel, well it's not, it more like condos than hotel rooms. It is large, the largest of DVC resorts.

But it depends on what you like. If you want room service, or the services that a resort like Wilderness or Broadwalk offers, then SSR might not be right for you. If you are more into the golf club, condo, OKW like resort, then you will love SSR. It's away from the parks, so it's a little more lay back, and it's a short walk to DTD.

Construction for the most part is complete. They are working over at the far end of the complex, so you should not be bothered by the construction.

Ask for a room in Congress Park, high floor with a view of DTD.

You have to look at it this way...It's Disney and better than that, it's DVC. You will be surrounded by good, decent people in a beautiful DVC resort. What more could you ask for!
