Hi!

Here's our situation. We are staying at SSR, check in is Nov. 12. We will not be there until late (8pmish), as we are unable to leave Texas until early that morning. We have booked through Interval International (time share- nondisney) for a 1BR suite.

I would like to request a room in the "Springs" close to the main pool and away from the DTD area (fireworks may wake the little ones and they need their sleep!). I also need to request a full size crib for DD (she can climb out of pack-n-plays!). How do I go about this? Do I call Disney or the Hotel direct? I think in the past when we've done the time-share trade (this is my Dad's time share- he booked it as a guest reservation for us) that we have called the resort directly to reserve a crib and high-chair.

Also, I think I know the answer, but do they ever upgrade their 1BR to 2 BR?? Is is worth asking a check-in?

TIA!

They do not upgrade unless the room you were suppose to get is unavailable. I would have the requests noted on my reservation.

We were in the Congress Park area of SSR in January -- staying as members. Your chance of hearing anything more than a few quiet pops from the fireworks across the lake are rather slim. Soundproofing is quite good.

There is an excellent children's play area near the Congress Park quiet pool -- so don't put all your effort into getting away from there.

We stayed at Congress Park this year and found it to be great. Never heard the fireworks and the quiet pool and playground area is extremely close. This pool and playground area is not very crowded at all and it also has a barbeque located right there. The view is great and the walk to DTD is around 8 minutes. The bus stop is right out front of the building. You may not want to rule out Congress Park.

so you all had the same idea as me...Congress Park rules! We have stayed there each time and have fallen more in love with it during each visit.
To request a room/view, crib and such, you'll need to call the reservation line and have this noted on your reservation. I don't think you need to call the member services line, since you aren't actually a member, but be persistent with the reservation line if they tell you you have to go through DVC. Also, you can call SSR directly, but it takes longer and should be done closer to your arrival date.

We're arriving on the same day and hope we do get Congress Park....we loved it on a prior trip. Fireworks are not noisy and the views are great! We stayed in a one-bedroom then, but since this is a mom/daughter trip, we booked a studio this time.

Thanks for the info.

What is the number I need to call to make my request. I booked through interval international, but I do have a reservation number, so disney should have it in their records, right? The number worked to make the 90+10 ADR.

Congress park sounds nice and looks convient, but I think my kids would enjoy being close to the big pool with the slide.

Will it be warm enough to swim in Nov? I hear the pool is heated to 85 degrees.

thanks.

Hi,

Would you mind letting me know how long ago you booked through Interval? I'm desperately waiting for something to open up in October, so I love to hear about people getting in through Interval. Did you make the request a long time ago, or just recently see it on the website?

Thank you!

I booked in the beginning of July and let me tell you it was pure luck. Both my Dad and Sister have time shares through interval. Dad owns in New Orleans, sister owns a Marriott in Orlando. Dad was getting ready to lose a week if they didn't use it soon. I was on under his account looking for something, surely thinking we would never get onsite and there were actually two for SSR out there- a 1br and a studio. Dad realized he would have to do an extensioin and wouldn't be able to book until 60 days out, so my sis was going to book it for me (before it was gone), but she tried to book it and couldn't so she called interval and they told her in Orlando she was locked into Marriott- she explained the situation to the guy and he put the SSR room on hold and told her to have our Dad call. My Dad called and the guy booked it even though he wasn't suppossed to until 60 days out. We are so thrilled to stay onsite. We only though we stayed onsite in '89, but we were actually in one of the DTD resorts (Royal Plaza)... so this will be awesome.

We feel like we were VERY lucky and had Pixie Dust on our side, so we are convinced we are in for a magical trip!!

My advice is look several times a day, learn the codes for the Disney resorts (I think all but one start with a "D")... you never know, you may get lucky- we did!!

I would check on these two items soon, because they are not normally available for DVC members, and I am thinking that the resorts don't have them at all. There are pack-n-play cribs in every room, but I would be surprised if you can get a bigger crib or a high chair. When we stayed at another timeshare in Orlando, we had to pay to rent a full size crib and they didn't even offer a high chair.

Just a warning to check with either Interval or SSR.

You should be able to get a high chair easily. We used to always have them in the front hall closets of OKW units. The DVC resorts have Pac N Play cribs in every unit and a few regular cribs that can be reserved, but they must be reserved ahead of time and are not guaranteed.
