I am usually a huge fan of SSR. We just returned from a short weekend stay and had springs building but parking lot view...not very exciting for extra points. Overall not thrilled with the view or location- like congress park better. Returned not really liking SSR. If this was my first stay there I would probably never return. We have stayed there many times, so I do love it but-because it is so large I can see why some love it or hate it.

I think Springs is only preferred because of proximity to the lobby main resort amenities and the Springs Pool. I agree that CP is better than Springs (you can get a better view, and you get the proximity to DS). That being said, I like most of the standard locations, except maybe Carousel, just as well.

We have only ever stayed at The Springs, and we really like it. And I agree, the proximity to the Springs Pool, and the main building amenities are the attraction. I have never really cared about the view at SSR.

It was the first DVC I actually stayed at since I found a last minute rental here on the forums back in 2006 or so (Paddock).

I don't hate it. I like it (especially now that point costs per night have come down a bit).

But I do like most of the other onsite options better.

We're fans -- love the refurb too. But only in Congress Park. My brother-in-law on the other hand likes to golf so he's on the opposite end closer to the clubhouse.

Enjoy SSR but would like it a lot better if they hadn't taken out the extra seating in the small living room replacing it with the cabinet bed & put in the VERY UNCOMFORTABLE sofa. Our theory is they take out most of the seating & make what's left uncomfortable so the villas are becoming only places to sleep, so you have to go out & spend money at the parks & restaurants.

We love the Springs location and have only stayed there, but love walking to DS so I can see how CP would appeal.

Huge SSR fans- it evokes strong nostalgia of trailer park camping with my grandparents as a kid. I think it’s the spread out, multiple pools, totally relaxed community hall vibe. Only BCV & BRV give me the feels like SSR does 🥰

We liked SSR a lot, but we also used our days there as a base while we did other Florida things and had just enough of the Disney touch to make me smile. It felt very private and I like the refurb. I might have felt differently if we had not had a car and wanted to do parks. I'll definitely stay there again.

You're right. Before DVC divided SSR into Preferred and Standard, the Springs and CP were the sections most often recommended here when posters asked what requests to make. When DVC did create that division, it wasn't surprising which sections went into which category.

Springs location does nothing for me. CP is nice and close to DS. We really like the Grandstand area. First on and first off the bus, close to Carriage House. Close to boat launch. I’ll take a parking lot view over the dumpster view at BRV any day of the week.

When I first joined DVC SSR was probably our least favorite. Now with the refurb, it's become one of our favorites. With them adding the standard/preferred locations and the Treehouses, it's become better for us, points wise than it used to be. The standard rooms are less than they used to be.

Honestly, location within the resort is less of an issue for us since we've started driving down. We were in the Carrousel on our last trip, and any time we wanted to go to the Carriage House, we just got in our car and drove over there. Getting to the bus stop was a bit of a pain though...we were in the deepest/darkest corner of Carrousel. But in the grand-scheme of all the walking you do at Disney, it was only an extra 0.1%?

Just remember: when you book preferred: it's not a view you're booking. It's simply location. Our view in Carrousel was quite lovely. Nearly every building has parking lot views.

Don't love or hate it, but like it enough to stay there. The treehouse villas are fantastic. We've stayed there with 3 adults/2 children and there's plenty of room for everyone...and a deck!

Since returning to Golf in my retirement, I now prefer the Grandstand location at SSR. We've owned at SSR since 2010, and I remember when we stayed in Congress Park before the points premium. Close to DS is nice, but the walk from the grandstand is not that much further. I loved the golf course view and proximity to the clubhouse and boat transportation. I don't think I'll request Congress Park or The Springs, ever again.

Yeah, same with my brother-in-law. We don't golf, so the short walk to DS is our sweet spot ;) Great to have all the options there across 65 acres!

New owners at SSR and have stayed there 3 times, with our most recent trip in April. The refurbished rooms are really wonderful. We stayed in the Paddock section and I would highly recommend it. I understand the location issues and the size of the resort is a turn off to some, but SSR really deserves more love than it gets (although that seems to be changing a bit now with the refurb).

I do not hate it. I just wish I could the restaurant wasn't so far away from where we stayed last time. Luckily, we had our car.

Haven't stayed since 2009....but we check in Monday for a 4-night stay. Our 1st ever non-children stay for my wife and I. The easy availability and reasonable points make it very alluring. I'm nervous about the transportation issues I read so much about. Going in with a positive attitude!

I like the room to walk around At Sarasota springs. My stay last September was at the BRV. i love it there, but now that they have taken out the walking /biking path to fort wilderness, and with the boat not running, after a few days, I felt trapped.

SSR has grown on me. Early on it reminded me of the suburban McMansions on a moonscape. But as the landscaping has grown in it has become much more pleasant. I usually stay in Paddock and the pool/CS upgrade has made a big difference. The revamped Disney Springs has also taken things up a bit though I confess to missing the Adventurer’s Club.
