SSR location - walkway to DTD?

Hi - my best friend and I may be going to WDW, depending if I get my vacation approved. The only resorts available are OKW and SSR, I've stayed at OKW before so I'd like to try something new. I heard SSR is in walking distance to Downtown Disney and I like having that option. Can you tell me how easy this accessiblility is and what about if we want to go to PI?

Very simple, they have a concrete walkway designed specially for this purpose.

The walkway is nice, more convenient from certain sections than others. There's also the boat to DTD and of course bus service.

Should I request a special building at SS that is closest to walkway to walk to DTD? And which one if so?

The Congress Park area is the closest to the Marketplace end of DTD and the Grandstand or Springs area would be the closest to the West Side end. Both are easy walks. Some of the paddocks area is also close to the marketplace end. You may just want to request close to walkway to either marketplace end or west side end of DTD instead of a specific building.
