Hello, I’m about to pull the trigger on a SSR contract for 250 points. It’s loaded.. It has 250 points for 2025, 2026 and 2027. $98. A point. Does this sound like a good deal or do you think there is better out there? I don’t love SsR but I don’t hate it. I mainly wanted to buy to have flexibility to stay at all the resorts, but wanted to keep my buying in as low as I could, and also annual fees to be on the low side. Do you all think this is a decent deal or is there something wrong that I am not seeing? Thanks for your help. I’m new to this, but I have done a ton of research.

So many factors, but if you have done some research then you’re probably good to go. SSR is great for SAP, & it sounds like that’s exactly what you’re looking for.
My only thing would be that I’d probably make a pretty low offer since it’s on the bigger side of a contract.

It was one of those certified hot price offers where they were only taking full price

When you said loaded I was expecting it to be 500, 250, 250.

Unless this is a later use year such as October or December by the time the contract closes you might not have much available to book with the 2025 points.

https://www.dvcforless.com is your friend. Put in what you want in the filters and go from there. If you’re in no rush, start making offers in the $80’s, see what they counter with. Deals always come up, you just have to be patient, I think SSR is the most bought/sold timeshare, something will come up. More should start hitting the market soon as dues are looming on the horizon

It's a fine deal but I think you can do better! And Saratoga is a bargain but you do have to be ok with occasionally staying at Saratoga.

OP. I didn't see what room type you are interested in. If you're doing studio or 2 bedroom, you might be disappointed. If you're doing 1 bedroom, you'll be in great shape.

And when is your normal travel period?

It is December but maybe I should keep looking
Realistically, this isn't "loaded". There are no 2024 points banked into 2025, and because Dues are calculated on a calendar year basis, you are still going to be paying for 11 months of the "2025" points.

That said, $98 is not a terrible price to pay for the contract. It's not the best you can get, but it is also more or less average for what amounts to an average contract. I'd say it is fair to both the buyer and seller, but you don't need to be fair to the seller if you don't want to be.

The bigger question is: What happens if you are "stuck" at SSR? Are you going to be disappointed, or is that fine? If you'd be disappointed, then you should either get a much better deal at SSR (to make up for that disappointment) or you might want to consider a different home resort.

If I’m not planning to travel this year as I already have a hotel booked is it a deal to buy one that has no points available for 2025 but are asking 91 dollars a point? I’m new to this..sorry if I sound like a five year old

I second @pzw90's suggestion of dvcforless.com - an incredible resource to help you evaluate how good a deal is. There are also some pretty good calculators on dvcrofr.com that help you calculate good offer prices based on deals from the ROFR thread. And, available points - loaded, stripped, etc. - all factor in to how good the deal is. Sometimes that gets negotiated through who is paying which years worth of dues (e.g., you might be able to get a seller to pay 2025 and 2026 dues on a contract that has no points or very little points available until 2026).

That said, a lot of us on this board (myself included) get rather obsessed with finding the most incredible deal. And, if you're not in a rush and willing to wait, you can and will find one. But, there is also something to be said for buying what you want when it comes along. A lot of times what distinguishes a great deal from an average one is $10/point or less, which, when you spread it over the life of the contract is not all that much in the grand scheme of things.

I will also note that some of the best deals tend to be had through brokers other than the site sponsor (although I will say, contrary to my expectations, I saw a couple of stripped BLT ones posted this morning that are getting 5 stars on dvcforless.com and tempted me for just a few seconds - don't think I've ever seen deals like that coming from the site sponsor).

$91 - no points vs $98 with points.

Depends on what you value your points at. Or how much would you pay to rent the points?

$91 vs $106.5 (annual fee reimbursement $8.5 +98 ) = $15.5 is what those points would be valued.

I’m all about the one bedroom for sure and I usually like to travel Jan-April maybe occasionally nov-Dec

Just keep in mind, you will pay Dues for the long term (more so than buy in price). I personally think SSR dues will keep increasing as it’s a sprawling resort.

CCV or BLT are good options and can negotiate some great deals on those resorts. Good luck!

Are they negotiable on the price per point ? Because they are pretty high as far as I can see
