I stayed on nite at SSR and was really impressed. I am a big OKW fan and usually stay there, but I couldn't believe haw nice SSR really was. We we're really impressed with the pool area and pool itself. The arcade was a good size and the grounds we're beautiful. We walked home from the marketplace and it was really nice, although long at the end of the day. The rooms we're so comfortable even though I prefer the size of OKW and the they have activities for the kids all day long. I going to definately stay there longer one time at least.

It is so nice to hear that other people like SSR. It is our home resort and we like it very much. Although I have to admit, I like the roominess at OKW! :cheer2:

I have really heard alot of good SSR reports lately, cant wait to get there! :cheer2:

Thanks for the positive post! We leave for our SSR "home" in 9 days and can't wait to see how the resort has evolved since we were there last (Nov. '04).

We  love SSR, too. Did you get to take a carriage ride? I don't know how I'm going to keep my kids in the dark about that option! And DD10 is already begging for a "mom & me" spa package...

I'm actually really happy for all the SSR detractors out there. As long as people don't know they want to stay there, and as long as it remains the largest DVC, it should always be the last property to fill up, hence plenty of room availability for US!

I am so glad to hear some positive reviews. I just replied on how someone said the pool was too small at busy times, standing room only, etc. I am coming next April with a bunch of my friends and I don't want it to be a negative experience for them since I am the one giving it all of the hype. We will be going from April 29-May 2. Should I switch to somewhere else at the 7 month mark??????? :confused3

Every resort has its ups and downs. Just take a look at any thread here and on the resort board. Not to long ago BCV got a bunch of negatives and BWV too prior to that.

I think the pool would have to be really really really packed to be standing room only. Not saying it won't get busy but c'mon, that might be stretching it. And everyone's perception is different. To that person 20 people there might be standing room only where to you it would be downright empty.

Some people think walking from the Paddocks to the food court is soooo long yet they are the same people that walk from BWV to MGM.

Go and try it for yourself, you might be surprised.

Or then again don't :rotfl: makes more room for me :) :) :)

It is great to hear the positive SSR feedback. It is the only resort I haven't tried yet. Maybe I'll add it to my list of to do's.

Why would you hype up a resort you haven't stayed at? You may be setting the expectation level to high for your trip. Why not just tell the truth, that you've never stayed there, and just go and see how you like the place? See for your self, don't let the negative reviews get you down. There are plently of positive ones as well.

Glad you liked it!

We have been staying at OKW for the past few years & SSR (our home) has really grown on us & we think it is maturing well. We will be staying there for the first time in 100 days!

My family went to Disney and stayed at SSR in March. We fell in love with our new "home". I firmly believe you should stay at your new home on the first dvc trip. You will not be dissapointed! We are staying at BWV during Thanksgiving week and I am very excited about it. I plan on staying at ALL the DVC resorts because I am sure they are all special and will give each trip a "new and exciting" feel. Resort hopping is a nice DVC perk and I plan on taking advantage. I must say though, I will have to sneak a day at SSR on my BWV trip and once I stay at all the DVC resorts it would be fine by me if I never leave SSR!!! PS- you will love the short walk to DTD, the pool is fabulous, and the entire resort is beautiful.

Last month my husband and I spent out 10th anniversary at Disney. We stayed half the time at SSR and the other half at BWV. I preferred SSR hands down. You have so many more options as far as food goes. At BWV the only casual food we could get was either take out pizza or one sandwich offering at the bakery. That's the only handy, "quick" food. We were on the dining plan so it was a definite minus. We ate over at beach club, and I got the impression I wouldnt want to stay there either, which was actually quite a shock for me. I just felt like the pool overrated. It's supercrowded, everyone that walks by is staring at you, and it closes early. Plus, to use the slide you have to freeze your half-naked booty as you wind your way out of the pool, across the main sidewalk, and over to the pirate ship. It makes it hard when you are trying to wait for your children to come out of the slide.

Yes, it is nice to be in the middle of the boardwalk, but food was just really limited after a day or two. If you have your kids with you and you don't want to wait in long lines for expensive food, you have to get in your car and go elsewhere, or eat another piece of yucky pizza, or hope that the one sandwich they offer at Boarwalk Bakery is one you like. My main complaint about Boardwalk? The pool was so cold my toddler's lips turned blue and they begged to get out after 15 minutes. That's sooo not my kids typical reaction. I was really frustrated about that. I mean, I think we've spent enough money we could at least get a lukewarm pool. :furious:

I loved SSR. Loved the dining options, loved the vast array of snack options they have labeled for you. Very DVC/DDP friendly. Loved the spa. Loved the pool. And I personally liked the walking. It was peaceful, and I felt like we got some exercise. Of course, we didn't go in August, but I enjoyed it. My only complaint at both the places? :scared: On their magazine rack at child eye-level was Cosmopolitan magazine with big bright pink letters: THE ORGASM ISSUE! I've got a kindergartener that loves to read. Is Cosmo a Disney friendly magazine? ;)
