Hi - I was searching for the Saratoga Springs Info Thread like so many of the other resorts have and I don't see one...am I missing it?! If there isn't one, can someone tell me a little bit more about that resort? I've been there to visit but just booked a stay for December and want to hear more to get excited!

I'm not sure about the thread but SSR is great! You will love it!

I think it is often overlooked but the atmosphere is wonderful, and it's very light and airy. Food is good in the two restaurants and the main pool is especially wonderful at night. The atmosphere in it is great- and quite busy!

It is very spread out though so you ought to request the location of your room. (We called up and asked.) The Springs is great- the closest to the carriage house check in, restaurants and shop. (Plus the main bus stop.) Walk to DTD is beautiful and relaxing, very scenic.

If you are in a two bedroom villa I would request a dedicated villa rather than a lock off.

I too would recommend the springs for the same as pp stated. Best pool other than the paddock pool. The only drawback with springs is the long bus ride to the other stops before exiting the grounds. Place is gorgeous though turf club is great too. the only reason we aren't staying there this 1st trip is because we were able to get bwv and im not sure if that will happen ever again. Have a great time n get ready to get wowed.

SSR is a stand alone DVC resort - like OKW - so there is not a resort information page on it in the resort section.

I guess I was just wondering about the feel of the place and any insider information. I love researching the pace before staying there and finding out what those who stay there alot know. The threads always are fun to read too! I've stayed at OKW and absolutely loved it so I'm hoping that SSR has the same feel - the feel of actually getting away from the parks and feeling like you're on vacation.

I actually am hoping to ask for a room closest to DTD since walking around the actual resort to get to stuff doesn't bother me. I'll do some research on the map. Are the studios in all the buildings?

Also - good to know the Turf Club is good. I heard mix reviews from people awhile ago but perhaps we will give it a go!

well I loved the turf club - got to remember to eat there again.

yes studios are in all the building - they are not in the treehouses those are only 3-bedrooms.

go over to the DVC resort boards - you get some nice views of SSR.

It is lovely and yes it is alot like OKW - big difference - OKW has 2 queen beds - SSR has queen bed and double sleeper sofa.

it is more uptown than OKW. now my favorite part is the one you might want it is closest to DD - Congress Park. It is very pretty and around 5 to 10 minute walk to Marketplace at DD.

The Springs is the last bus stop, not the first. This is one reason why many of us chose NOT to stay in The Springs. If the bus is full by the time it gets to that last bus stop you will need to wait for the next bus to come. The Grandstand is a great choice if you want to be close to the main building, pool, shopping, and it is the first bus stop. Congress Park is the section that faces DTD, however not all rooms will give you a view of DTD. The walking trail to DTD is from Congress Park. The Paddock has a wonderfully new themed pool with slide and this section is becoming a popular choice for many DVC owners.

Don't forget that SSR has a great spa. I had a facial and didn't think it was going to be that great but it was! Now I'm thinking about scheduling one for my next trip.
