My DH and I are going to SSR in October and were wondering if anyone has any info about getting groceries at Artist's Palette. Specifically if they do have some groceries available what sort (i.e.gallon of milk, fresh fruit, bread, bagels, cereal, chips etc.) Also, are the groceries super $$$. Like, what would milk cost (ballpark). I am wondering if we should have wegoshop.com bring groceries or if we should just get snacks at Artist's Palette? thanks for any info you have to share! :wave2:

Artist's Palette has a pretty decent selection of basic groceries, including milk, cereal, fruit juice, baked goods and pastries. They also have some pre-packaged foods (including frozen pizzas) and of course the freshly made stuff! Oh, and they also sell beer, wine (surprisingly good selection), snacks and sweets.

We chose to go to Publix for our main shopping - we were staying for two weeks and were planning to have lunch and dinner in the villa occasionally. However, Artist's Palette was great for stocking up on things like milk, bread etc as we ran out.

If all you are after is breakfast basics and snacks, Artist's Palette probably has everything you need. If you want to put together more elaborate meals I would recommend a visit to a supermarket. :)

Oh, I haven't a clue as far as prices are concerned I'm afraid, but I can't remember thinking Artist's Palette was that expensive. I'm sure someone who has been more recently can help on that one!

Hope that helps,

Charlotte

There is a list with prices on the dvcmember.com web site. I'm not sure if it is complete and "Prices and availability are subject to change."

Here is a sample:
Whole MIlk 1/2 gal: 2.95
1% Milk 1/2 gal: 2.95
Pop Tarts: 2.89
Kellogg's Corn Flakes: 3.95
Arnold's While Bread: 2.89

Hope that helps!

Also, if you'll have a car from SSR you're about a 5 minute ride from Winn-Dixie and Goodings.

You might want to try WeGoShop... Although there is a service fee, it was worth it... And you can choose a grocery store where you want them to shop...

We had this service early this month, it was an excellent experience... They deliever the groceries to your room and put it away for you...

Good luck...

Thanks to the OP for asking this question. I was wondering the same thing. I only want snacks and breakfast food and will not have a car.

SSR has a small but decent assortment of groceries. I brought down a few things, and was very glad that I did. They have Kellogg's cereals--DD wants Honey Nut Cheerios (glad I'd brought a box), etc.

Prices were not too bad. Milk was about $3 per 1/2 gallon. Certainly more than at home, but...we didn't have a car on this trip, and I wasn't upset about the selection.

If you have a car, there is a Gooding's close--rather expensive. Publix and Winn Dixie are just a little farther away. I'd recommend that if you have luggage room, you toss in anything that the kids just "have to " have.

Thank You all for the great info! You've answered my questions perfectly. We are not going to have a car, and all we really want is breakfast food. So... I think we will pack a suitcase of snacks/cereal and buy milk at the resort. Thank you all again. :wave2:
