Hey ~ We will be visiting SSR for the 1st time. I have 3 young kids who love the big resort pools but I'd also like a good location for the bus. Would you chose Grandstand or Springs???? Thanks everyone!

Grandstand is the first stop for the bus both inbound and outbound.
It's about a five minute walk to the main pool from Grandstand. The small pool at Grandstand is quite nice as well.

Only b/c springs is the last bus stop and during slow season I saw busses pass that stop by b/c they were already full - I would pick grandstand. I haven't stayed there yet but the pool looked really cool too!

We stayed at Grandstand in February and we actually liked it even though it's the first bus stop because (a) you get a seat when you're leaving even if you have to wait for the other stops and (b) you're the first stop when you're tired and coming home :)

Plus, there's nice views of the golf course in some parts, but still reasonable walking distance to the main clubhouse.

If you use the buses a lot then Grandstand for sure. We prefer the Springs but we drive ourselves mostly.

We have stayed at both.

1st time stayed in the Springs, was at a slow time so bus loads were not an issue.

Have to say preferred the bus stop for the Grandstand because it is 1st, so can almost guarantee a seat (which is great with 2 youngin's) or at least a spot on the bus. Also is but a 5 min. walk to the CH and HRS, so worked out great for us. A couple of times we went to breakfast at AP and then on to catch the bus at the Springs stop, but ended up going back to GS bus stop because buses were full (mind, this was at Thanksgiving).

One more vote for the grandstand here. We much prefer being the first bus stop. Also the pool area is great, lots of seating and it has it's own poolbar in the busy times. It's a similarly timed walk to the Carriage House, but no street to cross. It's our favorite area.:cloud9: We have requested it for our October trip.

Well, if you can walk to the main area from Grandstand, can't the reverse be true? In other words, can't someone staying at Springs walk to the Grandstand bus stop?

Ive stayed in springs and grandstand and i like grandstand a bit better.

Grandstand has its own pool and its a nice one at that, its gotta hottub and a regular pool with fountains. the only thing it doesnt have in comparison to the high rock pool is the slide but if you really want to use that pool its not a far walk.

in terms of buses the springs is the last stop before the parks. what i do is, since we usually have to walk over to the main area to have breakfast i eat breakfast and do the very brief walk from there to the springs bus stop and youre off the parks. on the way home the grandstand is the first stop!!

its a win win! see if you can not only request grandstand but the portion of the grandstand close to the pool because youre not only close to the pool but close to the main part of the resort with the breakfast area check in etc.

does anyone have comparison pics of the grandstand vs the springs pool?
I didn;t know there were 2 themed ones at ssr. our first trip there is in about 33 days

We stayed in the one of the 2 GS buildings closest to the CH/AP on our last trip--it was GREAT!!!

We stayed at the Springs in January, took us a couple of days to figure it out but we started getting off at Grandstand and walking to our room. Being the last stop was an extra 15 minutes. Getting out and walking took 5. We were close to Artists Palette and the big pool and Turf Club. I think walking from Grandstand to those buildings would be close too!

we stayed at Grandstand in September 08. It was not busy at all.
we walked to Springs to get the bus so we didn't have to stop at all the pickups. We always got a seat. And it was nice to be the first ones dropped off at our room at the end of the night.
The spash pad at Grandstand was a huge hit with my 2 little ones 3½ and 1½.

The pool at the Grandstand area really isn't themed, but there is a water play area that the kids really seem to enjoy.

Thanks everyone I'm sure we'll enjoy whatever we get. WE LEAVE TOMARROW!!!! I am soo excited!!! Thanks so much for all the help , its appreciated.

We just stayed there for the first time and we were in the grandstand section. We were in room 9121, not to far from the pool or the bus. I think the next time I will request the building closest to the pool even though it was a quick walk. The grandstand section being the first stop for the bus was a huge plus.
