SSR good choice after all...

I must admit, I was not all to thrilled about my SSR purchase at the start.

At the time we bought, there were no other options and after hearing stories about people holding off and having higher buy-in prices we really did not want to chance it.

Not to mention I wanted to have it paid off before we have children and I was 24 at the time and the extra years were a huge perk given our ages.

So far we have booked stays during "high demand" seasons with ease at our 11 month window.

Has anyone that owns at SSR ever had an issue booking at the 11 month window, what about holiday weeks?

I should mention that we are not staying at SSR, our first week we are at VWL and the 2nd we are at AKV Savanna
We will be there 9/29-10/15 2007

Hi, Jenn. I think it will be semi difficult to have any trouble booking at the 11 month window, no matter what season. If you call in the morning right at the 11 month mark, it will be near impossible not to get your first choice.

That said, you may have trouble booking certain rooms at certain times when you book a resort other than your home resort. VWL at Christmas, BCV and BWV during Food & Wine are a couple of examples.

I booked Thanksgiving this year without issue at the 11 month mark. I called MS before hand and let them know when I wanted to book. ( The 3 bedroom grand villa ) They said my best option was to call everyday I wanted to stay. So instead of waiting until check out date to call and book, I started at the first date and went all the way thru to the day after Thanksgiving. MS made a note of it that I wanted to go thru the week. Even if I called later in the day, I still was able to continue with the resie.

The year before we called 5 - 6 months out for the same week for a 2 bedroom and could stay Thanksgiving Day.

We had no problem booking an SSR studio for Dec. 20-26 at the 11 month mark. Then, about a month ago, we called & switched to AKV!! I couldn't believe we were able to switch. I thought they'd be all booked up. I had tried for WLV & they were booked solid.

We've already stayed at SSR, so we were glad to get a different place for Christmas. We're staying at BCV in 2 weeks. Our goal is stay at each of the resorts!!

I don't know.
I can't book VWL at the 11 month mark because it's not my home resort.

I felt almost the same as you did at first with my SSR purchase. We had purchased BCV 2 years before and found that we were planning more trips to WDW and needed more points. We love BCV, but the incentives for SSR were a better deal so we went with SSR. We stayed at SSR over Thanksgiving, I booked 9 months out no problem. I thought I wouldn't like it because the resort is so big, but it was wonderful. I would love to stay there again, but I am on a mission to try all of the resorts. This Aug we are trying OKW and VWL, OKW booked at 7 months and VWL at 6 (VWL was an after thought) If I keep having these after thougts I will be making another purchase. AKV or should I wait for CRV?
