Has anyone else considered using SSR for a Spa like vacation. I have never visited the property (have seen the models) and would like to know if this environment would be conducive to a Spa like experience.
I know it's close to DTD which would be a plus for DH and I as we usually like to visit Vegas (Mandalay Bay) once a year for our adults only trip. For those trips, we like to relax, swim, dine and do a little sight seeing (No Parks ok maybe Epcot). Is the Spa nice? We are not big gamblers so we could easily spend our days at SSR if the amenities are right.

SSR is not opened yet. I think that the information that is out is still in the "planned" phase since construction is not complete yet.

With the information that they are giving out to new buyers, it is not clear what exactly they will have in terms of spa facilities.

Sorry, probably not much help.

Here's a list of services...pretty comprehensive, if you ask me! I can't imagine you could go wrong with a spa at Disney. If the prices listed are correct, they don't seem to be exorbitant.

Hmmm...this page says it is closed...I read somewhere else (DIS?) that it is open. Anyway...you can get an idea of what they offer.

Not sure what the current closing (and I am guessing renovations) will yield, but the theme of the resort includes health and wellness. SSR sounds like it would be very conducive to a spa-like retreat. For what it's worth Conde Nast Traveler has a listing of the 45 top-rated spas for 2003. Disney's Saratoga Springs Spa is listed as #5 in the "top 5 destination spas."
(other categories include resort ships, resorts, and hotel spas, with each having a list and all lists totalling 45 spas)

SSR is in great company to rate that high with the Canyon Ranch Spas. We have visited the Canyon Ranch at the Venetian in Vegas and it was a great experience with top notch services. I know the ratings can be subjective but CR has always been highly rated by Spa Finder also so that lends credence to the ratings.

I have heard great things about the Luxor Spa and if we ever pull ourselves away from Mandalay Bay to stay there I will definitely visit the spa. MB has a beautiful spa and is one of my primary reasons for visiting Vegas each year. Enjoy your trip!

I am considering an addon at SSR for short getaways. I like destination Resorts where we don't have to leave the resort for services so I will keep my eye out for any new developments.

Last year during one of trips we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. At that time I did not know the spa existed until I requested information at the front desk. To my surprise it was one of the nicest facilties I have ever used including the spa at the Grand Floridian.

It was very quiet when I used it during October, 2002 and they were allowing CM to use it. I think the practice of CM using the spa was terminated. Anyway it is a great place. I found it very relaxing. I should note it was not very crowded. However, it may change with the introduction of SSR. I look forward to staying there sometime next year. Enjoy!
