SSR Foodcourt

Hope I'm in the right area for this.

We are flying in on a Saturday and the DW and I are debating whether to make ADR's or just opt for the food court.

We joined in '05 and this is our first trip "home" and are looking forward to it.

Wondering if the foodcourt is like the ones at the All-Stars and would rather head to town for McDs just not to have the hassle.

Any reviews would be quite helpful.

Also, on the non Disney grocery delivery ( yeah I'm double dipping on this post )
when do they deliver to SSR? Is it like cable service, be there between noon and 5 pm?

The food at SSR is not really a food court, but more of a deli. I found it disappointing, but they also have a new full service restaurant there now too (turf club). I can't answer about grocery delivery, because we always have a rental car and prefer to get our own groceries.

SSR has a counter serve restaurant that has sandwiches, flatbreads, etc. I liked the food, DH did not. They also have a new TS restaurant. (I have never been to All stars so I can't compare.) But you are walking distance to DTD and have a ton of choices there. I'd pick Earl of Sandwich over Mickey D's any day!

As far as grocery delivery, we used Wegoshop last month and they were great!! We ordered online and corresponded via email for delivery time. They will give you a time eg 6pm and they were on time. They even called me when they couldn't find the beer DH wanted and asked if I wanted another brand. Will definitely call on them again.

The "food court" at SSR is nothing like All Stars. We used to stay at All Stars before joining DVC. SSR's "food court" offers sandwiches, chicken tenders, flatbreads, etc. We really liked the flatbreads (they have a specialty one each day that changes) and the sandwiches we have had there have been good too. However, this food court is on a much smaller scale. The Turf Club just opened at SSR (that is the TS restaurant) on July 1st. We were there about a month ago and they were still working on it.

What you are going to love about SSR is the atmosphere and the accommodations - what a change from All Stars. We always enjoyed our vacations at All Stars, but just love the room we have at SSR. Also, we enjoy the bus situation. The buses are just for SSR and there are currently four bus stops in SSR. We have been twice and each time we only had a couple of bad experiences of waiting over 20 minutes for a bus. But for a stay of 5-6 days we don't mind having to wait a few times. We were also there during peak times and kind of expected that. It was wonderful to have a seat on the bus each time and not have to stand like sardines packed in the bus. Just about every night we walked to DTD. Also, you need to try Earl of Sandwich at DTD - the sandwiches are only $4.95 and they are wonderful!! All in all you will really love the fact that you are now in the DVC family. We wish we would have done this sooner.

P.S. Forgot to add that this last trip we used gardengrocer.com for our grocery needs and loved them! They knew our arrival time and it just timed out perfectly. They called right when we got our room and met us there to deliver the groceries. We are using them again in December when we return to SSR.

We actually liked the SSR food court. It is combined with the store and you can get provisions there, limited to essentials. We thought that the variey was just right and the food courts in the moderates and others were loud and overwhelming. I liked the limited menu, and everything we got was tasty. Also there is a DVC discount. We had the flatbread pizzas and the sandwiches and chili and liked them, but the breakfast looked good too Nancy

We were at SSR last week and I liked Artists Palette. Kids and my wife liked the flatbreads and I liked the Chicken Caesar sandwich. If you go to DTD for a quick meal, I agree with the Earl of Sandwich. At $4.95 it's a steal in WDW.
