Hi we are going "Home" over the Feb. break and realize the parks are going to be very busy! Could anyone tell what kind of programs or what's available for 10 - 12 yrs old boys at the community hall. I realize there is basketball and tennis as well but I have not found out what is actually in the Hall itself. Thanks for any and all info.....

EVERY Disney title PS2 game you can imagine. THey also have crafts in the front room and you can get boards games and play there. There is an arcade across the breezeway from CH---your ages will like that. They do fun pool games (you don't have to be in the pool).

Is there a rental fee for the PS2 games?? We could go broke if my kids had a say in this matter

you can check out one per kid--the only downside is that there are 2 PS2 and to be nice you should limit your time if others are waiting---but, if you go at a time that most are in parks, then you can play for hours for free!
For your ages, you might consider also going over to DQ--since you can walk or take the boat.

My kids spent a lot of time playing ping pong in there. There's also a TV w/kids shows/movies playing. I believe there were PS2's to play in the comm hall and games that you could rent/check out. DS brought his PS2 to play in the car and room and we had rented games at blockbuster before coming down so we didn't take advantage of that.

Do they rent out tennis racquets or do you have to bring your own? I am sure will be be purchaseing a basketball so no need to worry about that.

At SSR Communit Hall, you can check out all the sports items they have courts for. We have checked out Basketballs, Shuffle Board, Tennis raquests and balls, and even BBQ tools, all for no charge with our room key.

We have a great time using all that CH has to offer. I like the crafts, Dh does puzzles, and the boys enjoy the PS2 and Ping Pong and foos ball.

There is a Pool Party every Sunday, they offer Dive In movies a couple times a week, and then they offer scheduled daily activities in the CH from 11 am to 8 pm. There's usually a new activity every hour except on Ceramic and Floral days because those take longer.

We really enjoy the recreation staff at SSR. They always have fun and new things to do and they work really hard:thumbsup2

Hopefully, they will have the PS2 situation under control by the time you get there. I was at SSR over Thanksgiving and had a lovely trip with the exception of the night my 8 year old son was bitterly disappointed by the condition of the PS2 - basically, it wouldn't play the game he wanted, there was only one (the other two had recently broken, and it seemed the third was on the way). I'm sure these things have a reasonable life expectancy, especially with the amount of use I am sure they get, and hopefully they are already replaced (or repaired).

We did have a good time with the fooze-ball table, though, and saw lots of people enjoying the ping pong.

Does anyone know if there is a schedule of activies at the hall posted on the internet anywhere or just at the park.

They are very good at replacing items, although it does take time. We are at SSR every 3-4 months and 1 trip someone had put their full body weight on the ping pong table and cracked it in half. They had already ordered a replacement and when we returned, it was there.

There is no listing of activities online, but they will give you a weekly schedule in your Welcome Home Packet. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Maybe someone will post a recent schedule. I like to include the schedule in my trip reports because it is nice to know that there are so many activities offered.

Thanks for the info, its good to know that when we are escaping the crowded parks there will be lots for the boys to do at the resort.
