Where is the bus stop and how long does it take to get to MK?

We have a 4 and 3 year old - what area do you recommend we stay at?

Thanks for your answers; it's our first time "home" so we look forward to it.

We love the Grandstand section. It's the first bus stop for pickup and drop off. It has its own pool, and is close to the main pool, and lobby.

Thank you, we'll request that and hopefully will get a room in that area!

we are staying in the grandstand section right now and that first pick up and drop off is awesome

Thanks, Chiara - did you go to MK; if so how long did it take you to get there?

There are 5 bus stops at SSR:

Grantstand
Carousel (and Paddock)
Paddock
Congress Park
The Springs

So, no matter where you stay, you should be fairly close to a bus stop.
As noted, Grandstand is the first pick-up stop, and the first drop-off stop.
However, if boarding at Grandstand, you do have to ride thru the entire resort before heading out to the park. But getting a seat should never be a problem.

Thanks, again - we'll request the Grandstand area.

Ok, is this just a rumor..is the main pool area closed this Spring/summer for refurbishing?

I would say the trip to MK is about 8-10 minutes.

We have stayed at SSR twice, both times in the same building in Congress Park. I prefer the easy walk to Downtown Disney from CP over the first stop at Grandstand, but we don't have any small children so the few times we did have to stand on the bus it was no real problem.

We spent of first DVC trip at home at SSR!!! We were in the Paddock section and we loved it because there was a quiet pool and play area (looked like a little house) right outside our door. The walk to the CH was about 10 minutes even with the little ones (then 1 and 4). The bus ride to MK was the longest - about 25 minutes.

Wow! That must have been some speedy driver you had to get you to Magic Kingdom in 8-10 mins as SSR is about as far from MK as you can get (AKL might be a tad bit further). I'd say the ride is closer to the 25 min mark. Add a few mins is getting on the bus at the Grandstand section as you have to stop at all of the other stops within the resort before actually heading off to MK.

You may be right, 8-10 might be a little short, time gets skewed sometimes. It's just under 6 miles. I wasn't including all the stops at SSR, I was thinking SSR gate to the MK. Even including the stops I think 25min is a bit long. I know it never took us that long from Congress Park to the MK. We didn't come back that way last trip so I don't know on the return.

On one of our trips, I timed the bus ride from MK to Congress Park.

Including the internal stops, it was 25 min. We stopped at Grandstand, Carousel and Paddocks before getting off at Congress Park.

SSR also stages busses in the Grandstand area for quick dispatch during busy times. We saw this last Christmas. There were always 2 busses staged in the circle just sitting there and they were there til about 4pm. People will pack a bus because they think it is the last one, not knowing there are additional buses waiting in the wings. Just human nature I guess.

Each section has its own bus stops and the stops are on a loop, unlike OKW where they do alot of turning around or the Epcot areas do alot of circling back also.

We prefer Congress Park for the DTD view and pool, but the only section I would not want is Carousel.

In ways of preferable locations within a resort, SSR has the most choices imo.
