SSMC2006 cruise friends

I know, me too, me too!!! I want to hear about their cruise!!!

And sadly, there's no way that we can see Gail & John, since they're at WDW Tues - Fri, and I have to work all week. DARN!!!

We're back. We got back on Thursday afternoon to no internet and phone. Needless to say, it's now SUNDAY and we still don't have internet and phone. I had to go to Panera just to check in!!

The cruise was great. I actually feel terrible for the family who "won" the prize because they probably had the worst time out of everyone on the ship. We dropped them off on Tuesday morning at about 7am. They sent a tender out for them. We continued the day at sea. It was chilly and rainy and very very windy. Who knows what they did on the beach all day. They spent the night out on a yacht apparently. That night we had Gale force winds of about 60mph. I felt so bad for them. When we came into CC on Wed morning, we tried to dock and couldn't because of the winds. Capt John tried again about an hour later and was able to. We watched out our window and the poor yacht was just bouncing around. The tugboat that was pushing us in was even having a hard time. The wind on CC was just insane. We found the adult beach to be much calmer and spent a lot of time there. Of course the several Konk koolers helped make the day more fun.

I'll post more when we get our service back. I've had it with the stupid cable company.

Oops, this is really Gail - I'm using Carol's computer and didn't see that it was logged in under her name

Checking in. We got on the road about 11PM Thursday night. We arrived at Carol's on Friday about 5:30 PM. No bad weather and only 1 tie up on the road in Georgia. Someone rolled their RV so traffic was stopped for about a 1/2 hour.

The weather has been wonderful the past two days. Today we went over to the beach. Deanna's friend has never been to the ocean. Of course the water was cold but that didn't stop the northerners.

Tuesday we leave Jacksonville for WDW. Carol & Joe and my mom are coming with us. We'll stay until Saturdy morning when we'll have to leave to come home.

I'll try and check in when I can.

Hi everyone, sorry it took so long to post, but things have been a little busy, we got back late Friday, early Saturday, and I had to work yesterday at 8 am. Needless to say, I had a lot of things piled up at work and checked very little mail and internet personal stuff.

The 3 night cruise was great we had good weather, the shuttle launch was a once in a lifetime moment...I doubt we'd ever have the opportunity to see it from deck 9 aboard one of the Disney ships again. I had seen a launch before but from a distance, we were just outside of Orlando last summer when it launched. I have some pics that I will download and post in a few days. We (the 9 of us, Tim, me, the 3 girls, my parents, Tim's dad and grandma) all agreed how amazing watching the launch from the ship was! We had a great cruise with the exception of our dining room servers. They were not very Disney like, and very unfriendly. I asked for a plate of plain noodles for Lauren, and my salad without dressing and you would have thought I'd asked her to bring me a plate of gold bars. She told me I was going to get just lettuce, without the dressing, I was like thats fine I really dislike dressing, and always eat my salad like that. Then she told me that she cant get me noodles plain because they arent on the menu. I wasnt up for problems, so I went ahead and ordered her chicken fingers which went in th garbage because she didnt want them. We waited over 30 min for drink refills and a cup of tea for my mom. My parents thought she was rude to them, so we took a group vote and decided no more dinner with her for us. We skipped the dining room for the next 2 nights. On the 3rd and final night of the cruise our dining room head server Simone came to our room (they were having phone issues, and our phone wasnt ringing through, it said our room was unoccupied) and asked why we were not at dinner for the last 2 evenings, after we told him the problem, he offered to bring us dinner for 9 to our room from anywhere we wanted it. We told him to bring us menus for whatever dining room we should have eaten in that evening. He brought us menus from Tritons, and we ordered. He then offered Tim and I Palo's reservations and the choice of our dining rotation for our next cruise. We asked for early seating and anyone but our current server. No Palo's, (I'm very picky and just didnt care for the food there). We ended up eating at Palo's with a friend, but I knew how bad Tim wanted to eat there.
The 4 night cruise the weather was ok, very windy and high waves on the 3 and 4th nights. I felt very sorry for the GMA family as they had bad weather at CC, it was rainy, high winds, and waves for them. They stayed overnight in a yacht, and I'm sure they werent feeling so hot the next day. The ship was moving alot, so I'm sure the yacht was bouncing. As Diana said we had trouble getting into CC, a tugboat came and helped us pull in. The family beach was very windy and had lots of waves and seaweed. Serenity Bay was beautiful, not much wind, very little waves, and few people. We really enjoyed having no kids with us for this cruise! We were able to enjoy the adult beach and not feel guilty about the kids being in the club. The last night of the cruise was bad for me, I thought I was going to be sick, so I went back to the stateroom and laid down. After laying down I couldnt feel the ship move as much, and I felt much better, but was afraid to get up! I didnt want to be sick.
We stayed one night at AKV, and did the Keys to the Kingdom tour at MK. This was a very good tour. We really enjoyed the history behind MK and learned quite a bit that we didnt know!
Overall we had a very enjoyable trip! My parents fell in love with cruising, and Disney! They cant wait to become DVC members! They are looking into buying very soon!

Julie, You look wonderful! Glad everythng is going well for you and Matt and the little one!
Gail and John...Have a safe and fun trip! Enjoy a few drinks for us!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I agree. The girls wanted to do the Water fun at the club, so we went over to Serenity Bay and I didn't want to leave. It was amazing the difference between the Family beach side and there. It was like a different world. AND we got to watch Johnny without the Sprites float around! :rotfl:

I have to say our Asst Server was pretty terrible too, except on the last night, coincidentally enough, the night the tips get handed out. The first night she brought Julia's lemonade in a glass filled to the top. Like the same glass you'd hand me. Uh---she's 3. I get having them feel like big kids---but she's 3 and that's a big glass. We never got refills without asking any night and most nights my glass sat empty 3/4 of the time we were eating.

And that last night was the worst seas I've sailed in. At breakfast the last morning this kid at the next table looked out the window and said---WOW, we really didn't tip over last night, i thought for sure we did. :scared1:

But we're sad we're home and can't wait to cruise again in December.

I'll try to catch up here this morning!

Cindy/Steve the Hooters meet sounded like a lot of fun. I've yet to go to a Hooters but there's a million down here, and hanging with Amy and Chris, I'm sure our time will come soon.

Gail--have a great trip!!

Julie--you look awesome!!

Erin--I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope Kelsey is running around up there with Penny pain-free and happy. They sound a lot alike. Just hold on to those good memories. We talk about Penny all the time here. Unfortunately, the only thing Emma remembers about her is jumping on the kitchen table to steal the waffles off her plate. :rotfl: Silly dog could barely walk, yet she could climb up there to grab food.

Tina & Diana, it sounds like you had fun, despite the weather and a few other things not cooperating.

Tina, we did the Keys to the Kingdom tour last winter and loved it. I can't wait for Gary to have a chance to do it as well as Cameron when he's old enough. Heck, I just might have to do it again. We did the behind the Magic of the Steam Trains in October. Cameron loved, loved, loved it and is waiting to do it again.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Walker. We're having a party with his friends in a couple of weeks. I couldn't find an ice skating party so he settled for a roller blading party. Last night we had cake & trick candles. I thought Walker was going to set the house on fire trying to get those candles to go out. Good thing there were only 8 of them on the cake or that just might have happened.

Today is a mail holiday, Steve, I'm sending the CJ's tomorrow.

Ok, so I've finally uploaded the pictures of what we've been up to lately.

Emily's team competed in their first competition of the year at the FL State Fair last Saturday.

Yep, that's her in the back, on top.

NEBStateFair2.jpg

Yep, on top again. They call this a flatback. Emily thinks it's funny that she gets to look at the sky. :scared1:

NEBStateFair3.jpg

Final stunt of the routine!

NEBStateFair4.jpg

They ended up with 2nd place!!! I'm pretty proud of them, since they just learned this new routine in the beginning of January.:woohoo:

Oh, and I forgot one! Her little diva pose!!

Ok all you croc wearing friends... I'm finding that my crocs are most comfy right now (too bad I can't wear them to work :rotfl: )... what styles do you recommend and which ones should we avoid?

I love my mickey beach crocs - so much I ordered a 2nd pair same as the first ;) .

Amy, seing Emily so high mst put your stomach in your throat. Cool pictures but I'd be a nerveous wreck!

Julie, have you looked at the mary jane crocs? I have a friend who wears them for work as they are a lot more dressy. Would those work for you?
I have the mammoth, beach and athens. I'm sure none of them are suitable for an office environment.

I do love the athens. As much as I love them, I did developed an inflamed nerve - whether that's related to them or not, I'll never really know although the foot doctor thinks it could be. Maybe it wouldn't have been as bad if I didn't wait 4-5 months to get it taken care of. That doesn't mean I'm stopping wearing my crocs, but I will alternate between them and my gym shoes with my new arch supports. :sad2:

After Cameron was born, my feet were so swollen the only thing I could wear were slippers. I remember wearing them in public - on the way to the hospital to see Cameron. I'm sure I got more than a couple of looks, but nothing else fit. I was very glad when the swelling went down and I could at least get something else on my feet.

Uh, YES, I do get very nervous. I'm not so nervous at practice, I don't know why. But, when they are at the competitions, I feel sick to my stomach until it's over. And I'm not sure why, because they have spotters, but it just makes me so nervous!! But, she loves it, so what's a mom to do! :confused3

Julie - I wear my mary jane crocs all the time, and I love them. They are a little less casual, but still comfy. And, I did see my neighbor the other day in a pair of the primas, and they looked like regular flats. So, they were cute too.

Cindy - I'm noticing some problems with my feet a bit too. But, I think that mine is heel spurs. I probably should go to the doctor to have it looked at, but I've been so busy. I'll have to call this week and make an appt.
