SRR: Good Room Location Overlooking DTD/Walking Distance?

My friend and I will be staying at SSR in a studio during the first week of December for some ladies-only time and Christmas shopping.
We requested a room with a view of DTD. I know it's not a guarantee but I can hope.
Since we will not be renting a car, will are hoping to get a room with the shortest walking distance to DTD. We will be attending the World of Disney Shopping event and we will have to get there around 5:30am before the Disney transportation is running, so walking is our only option.
We stayed in the Grandstand building once before and we loved the location and the fact that it was the first bus stop and always got a seat but it is far from the main building and DTD.
So the question is; what building or rooms, would have the shortest walking distance to DTD and how long does it take to walk over?

You want to request a room in Congress Park, overlooking Downtown Disney. That is the closest walking distance to DTD. It's a nice, peaceful walk.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info!
Is there a path that takes you around the lake from Congress to DTD?

There is a wonderful walking path (concrete sidewalk) that leads you right to the bus drop off for DTD. It is lit at night, but there is really not "gated" entry to keep the riff raff out.

In fact, there is a posted sign that says that the path is supposedly closed from "Dusk to Dawn". I have stayed in Congress Park numerous times and walked to DTD. It's a quick jaunt. Carrying a lot of bags back to the resort AFTER your shopping spree may be the issue as I think only the Disney Store will deliver to the resorts (I could be wrong on this point though). Still the walk won't be bad and with 2 of you, you shouldn't have any issues walking to DTD that early in the morning. Enjoy and boy am I jealous!!

Thanks for all the help.
I can't wait to get out of here!

Here's the SSR map. DTD is a short walk from Congress Park buildings 1101-1436 and 1501 - 1836. I don't think it took more than 10/15 minutes tops. My DD and I stayed in the 1501-1836 building and we went to DTD for lunch and dinner.

Have a great time!!

The path that has the sign "closed from dusk to dawn" is just a path through
the trees from the front of CP to the actual path to DTD. The path along the lake is well lit and does not close at night. Watch out for the raccoons if you have food:rotfl: We were coming back from the rain forest cafe with leftovers one night and two raccoons decided they wanted our ribs. They were quite bold.
