Squirts, Shirts, & Flirts...The Legend Continues (TR started 6-23)

first thanks for all the comments on the trivia, now a little disclaimer, i am just saying what it says in the book, i have not checked these things out personally, taking the ladies word for it. i have no reason to doubt her, but things could change with teh information i am giving you and disney could change some of the stuff at any time.

now back to the regulary program.

We've only been to FW 2 times and both were to see hoop dee doo. The first time it was pouring down rain. The 2nd time we were there early and it was a nice evening. I didn't see any animals. Maybe they were put up because it was February? :confused3 We are doing hoop dee doo again.....see a pattern here? I will most definitely look for the petting zoo for DS before the dinner show.

I like that book! I will have to look for one for myself. :thumbsup2
last trip we had we were there late so did not see any animals, but they havealways been there in the past. i am sure the horses are still there though.

Wow! Your review of FW was great! I think it sounds like a fantastic experience. I was listening to a DIS review on the podcast (maybe from the spring?) and they loved FW. They especially liked the Trails End Buffet. Great idea to end your TR with Disney facts!:thumbsup2
it is a good buffet and the cheapest on property.

good cookin therepopcorn::

Great review of FW

we stayed there last year as you know and loved it

very good value and so much to do there

That book sounds really cool :goodvibes

yep i knew you guys loved it, a whole new way to experience disney

I love the trivia! We're eating at Tony's, we'll have to look for Lady and the Tramp.
also there is suppose to be a paw print on the stairs leading into the restaurant, i think to the left hand side, and when we were there last trip, we asked our server for lady and the tramps signature, and he got them for us.

Great review of FW, Dan. We love to go camping also. I'll be excited to see your pics when you get back! Sounds like a very neat book, I'll have to make a list of the tips you post, Piper would groove on the street lamps changing!
hope she gets a kick out of the lamps, will have more facts for you coming up as well.

Ah such a sweet video. Thanks for sharing all the info on FW.
your welcome, hope you enjoyed it.

Thanks....I didn't know too much about FW.

Tri-circle D -- I get it!
i never really got it till a few years ago.:rolleyes1

most peopledont realize all the good things and hidden things about FW, there are many more i will share in the TR, maybe it will sway you to stay there sometime.

Wow. I haven't seen too many pictures of FW. What a great place to stay, such a different experience. I'm gonna check out & price a cabin for my 2011trip, just for the heck of it. At the very least, on one of our free days we will visit.

Love the Hidden facts, keep those comming!
i think during the low season the prices start about 250, but the nice thing is you can get up to 6 people in there for that price...where other resorts make you get another room, or suite which are that price or more.

Awesome review of the Campground !!:thumbsup2

I need to get tht Trivia Book !! I have been to Tony's and never knew that !!!:confused3
look above for some other tonys stuff i posted.

Great update about my beloved Fort!! It's truly a great place to stay!!

In April they had very few animals left, but the horses were great to hang out with. I was so that it was only a dim shadow of its former self.

I have that book too, and it's pretty good!! I"ve gone through it and highlighted all the hidden gems I want to scope out in Sept. There's def. quite a few she points out.
hope they have more animals in june when we go.

i highlighted stuff i did not know as well...i am all the way up to world showcase in epcot now, there is some real neat stuff there.

YAY for the Fort!

We had a WONDERFUL trip there last year, staying in the cabins. Were we closer we'd camp in a heartbeat (tent camp, the real deal) but it's just not practical to pull off from Seattle!

They were building the slide while we were there, the kids are dying to go back and try it. Though they didn't seem to mind the fact that we got to use the pool at WL as an alternative during constructions.

I can't wait to see a TR with the new pool!

Honestly, if the younger 2 could pick they'd probably choose the Fort over where we will be this summer...or their true dream, a Treehouse Villa.
glad you liked the cabins, too bad they dont redue the cabin pool, it is kinda boring now that they redid the main pool

i would love to stay in one of those treehouses, but prob never will.

Great update! I'm going to have to look for that book. Keep the trivia coming!
i like it so far, disney books with info i did not know are my friend.
:thumbsup2
I"m just following GB around this morning...

there are worse things...

Yeah, following GB around after the Cantina or Caseys.
yeah instead of great biscuit,

you could call him "air biscuit" after those places.
:lmao:

i think since there are so many facts i want to share with you guys, on the longer replys i will also share some interesting facts with everyone.

today we go back and start with the main street windows.

the only window that can be seen from outside the park is on the front of the train station above the MK sign.

it is to honor walts love of trains.

reads: Walt Disney World Railroad Office, keeping Dreams on Track, Walter E. Disney, Chief Engineer.

the only land not raised in MK is toontown, since it was the last to be built and opened after the regular park opened.

Moving to the castle.

the three circle design on the fencing around the entry to the castle casts a mickey silhouette at the right time of day.

however the central rose in that design had to be added, because children were sticking there heads through the original design and getting stuck.

on the winnie the pooh ride, if you turn around and look behind you when you enter owls house, you will see mr toad handing the deed of his house to owl.

Chapter 5. What to expect from Fort Wilderness.

This i think is a question alot of you may have. Weither you have camped or not, i bet there are very few of you reading who has stayed at FW.

I have! That's where we stayed on our one trip as kids.

One thing I am sure is that everyone has something that when it happens at Disney or when they think of it they say, yep "thats Disney to me." Well for me it is FW. i guess it is because we always i mean always stayed there growing up. We are a huge camping family. Growing up my parents took us everywhere camping see this country. I have been in 42 states growing up and Canada Camping a few times around some of the great lakes.

Yep again, we lived in Detroit and camped all over the country and Canada in our pop up trailer..I know we are close on the states, maybe more like 37. We are going to Hoop-de-doo in February partially because I thought my friend would like it and partially because I wanted to see FW (we're staying at WL). All I really remember is the camper, the boat to MK, and River Country.

For christmas Candi got me the hidden magic of WDW book.
it has some pretty interesting stuff in it, some stuff that i already knew just from my general knowledge and some stuff i learned on the DIS.

I am going to end each chapter and probably have a daily DID you KNOW fact about Disney world.

Cool book - I am going to have to look for that!

Todays DID YOU KNOW.

One more for Main street.
the window of frank wells is the highest on main street for his love of mountaineering. window is called Seven Summits Expeditions.

I guess people here know this but that kind of makes me sad...Frank Wells was killed in a helicopter accident when he was going heli-skiing. I actually worked on a case a long time ago involving Disney and I remember I had to try to go through his hand-written notes and decipher them because he had passed away and couldn't be asked about them. (We were on the side against Disney - sorry, I was just a peon at the time, not my client! Actually, not sorry because it was a really interesting case, but don't want anyone to think I am anti-Disney.)

I have always wanted to travel the country in a RV. My cousin did it for 2 1/2 years and saw the entire country except HI.

I would love to RV it at WDW.........but I'd have to rent the RV too so that would defeat the cheaper angle....

Dan,
I love the trivia! I'm a total trivia girl. :cutie: Keep it coming. I do love hearing about FW, it may even get me to stay there some time. :yay:

Lets just say some things should not be eaten on one's final day.

To confess, I am woefully behind on MOST of my TRs that I follow- yours being one. It's been ages since I've had a long concentrated time to sit and absorb. Next week I should be in full stride again.

Exactly!

Yes, you should definitely go buy a tent now, in anticipation.

Buying a tent....words I was hoping would never part from my lips. I grew up camping a lot as a child, but have not one bit of ambition to ever rough it that much ever again if I can prevent it. "Roughing it," for me would be an R.V. or Cabin, of which I would enjoy. Being on the ground in a sleeping bag will hopefully never have to happen, God willing. :worship:

No worries, no hurries!

Enabler!

Yes. Yes she is.

i must first apoligize for not being on all weekend, it was a buys weekend with alot of family stuff and down time relaxing.

And also not going to be on much this week, i will try and at least respond to you guys, but not sure about an update...i was choosen for jury duty today and will be on a jury for a trial all week so needless to say alot going on and not sure how much DIS time i will have for everyone or to visit your reports so sorry again.

glad you stayed there growing up it is so much funto camp there..and we loved river country sad it closed, always hoped they would open it up for the campground guests to use even if they made it a little smaller

that is sad he died that way, but at least he did go doing what he loved....so maybe it was fitting for him.

pretty neat you went through his old notes though

:lmao: Or Crystal Palace...as Day 8 shall soon reveal!
:scared1:

true, maybe you should try and do it around you for a week long trip sometime, take an RV to the grand canyon or something, that is a long time to see the country we are hoping to do that when we retire

no problem will continue to have more and more facts for you guys.

pop ups are nice starter campers and they can be pulled with pretty much anything and are still alot of fun

:rotfl2:

That's my mom's idea of camping as well.

In fact, she just told me over the weekend she wants us to save up for Mimi Camping. :D
correct me if i am wrong but i believe this is your first post here.

:welcome: if it is.

and what is mimi camping?

I'm glad you got some down-time..esp with jury duty this week..ugh. Maybe it will be an interesting case :)

Jury Drudgery!?? :scared1:

See you when you get back!
