Happy birthday Parker! Can't wait to hear about his big day!

The Easter egg hunts that you did look like fun. I can tell he enjoyed them! It rained for the one we went to in Knox...the stuffed animals that they left out for the little kids turned into big sponges really quickly! Glad you had better weather! I like the McQueen basket, too!

that stinks, the ones we were at, had marked eggs, that you thentook to get a special basket or bigger toy, worked out good that way so the kids did not get upset if others got big toys in the fields, or grass area.

Parker is such a cutie! He had quite the Easter! It sounds like you guys had a great holiday. I love the idea of putting the eggs inside the beater. I will have to remember that one. I can't believe how close the trip is getting!!

not sure where candi found that one, but it worked really well.

i know we had my parents over last night,and were talking about food for the way down, it is getting really close now.

Parker's quite the little man in his new duds! And no wonder he's got a good eye for Easter eggs -- he had enough practice...5 hunts!

Yes, we saw that too...examples of how we didn't want to parent. You have to decide who's running the household -- the children or the parents. The young-uns will test you on this! Don't settle for partial obedience. Be careful not to back yourself into a corner with threats you don't intend to carry through. And when you do, and you find yourself in a stand-off with the child, go to your spouse and say, "you've gotta get me out of this one!" We each have had to do that on occasion, and when it happens, it makes me feel for single parents. I don't know how they do it at times like that.

she is constantly threatening time out and spankings but then never does them.

there has been a few times when they have seen parker get in trouble and she says see parker does wrong things also...then i say, "yeah but i actually follow through and put him in the time out and spanking"

she doesnt like that comment at all, but it needs said.

good advice though thanks, you just have to stay strong and continue to be consistant in the punishments.

Parker is so precious! They grow up so quickly-I am glad that you are enjoying every minute with him. Work will always be there, but your baby boy will not be 2 very long. Mine are 15, 17, and 19 now and I keep thinking back to when they were little. Every age has its rewards and special memories, but, "they are only young once" is so true.
Thank you for sharing your family's special moments with us.

thanks, we do charish every moment with him and his current age, candi crys on occasion when she sees how much he is growing up.

Wow. Where did the time go! 2 years old. Gosh, I remember Candi's baby bump pics just like they were yesterday!

we were talking about her bump the other day.

last night we were in the mall, and candi had to run into VS the one lady in there had a big bump, and parker was just staring at it, she was tiny besides the bump, so candi explained to him what it was, and he was like huh, then i told him that he was in mommys tummy like that, his eyes got huge, and he looked at her stomach...so not sure if he understands it yet or not.

Isn't it amazing how 6 months can make SUCH a difference at their ages? It amazes me. Landon failed at his easter egg hunt. We only did one, and it just so happened to be scheduled during his nap time. He was doing fine at first. But then they started late and by the time they actually started, Landon was throwing a tantrum. (Tiredness mixed with the frustration of seeing all the colorful eggs and not being able to go get them yet.) He got about 7 eggs and often was more interested in throwing them than anything. Next year should be better! I love Parker's Lightning McQueen basket! I can't believe the cool stuff they have these days! They had the coolest eggs at Landon's hunt...dinosaur ones, bug ones, etc. All I ever got was the plain colored plastic ones!


Don't remind me!! I can barely believe that next month he will officially be one and a half!! My little man!!

yeah at the first one, he wanted the eggs right away, until i explained to him how it was going to work, then he just stood there and waited without moving stairing them down.

we got the basket at michaels last year after easter on clearance...and i saw those eggs with the bugs and animals on them at walmart.

parker got a giraffe one at his second hunt.

they are "little big men"

Wow that was a lot of Easter Egg Hunts !!! Looks like Parker enjoyed them all!!

yep it was, he did really good, some eggs seal tighter than others so he had a hard time getting those apart,but he would just give me the ones that were to hard for him and i would lossen them up so he could open them.

It's crazy how time flies! My niece will turn 8 mos during our trip and I feel like she was just born yesterday! Parker is too cute! And it looks like he had a ton of fun on all those Easter Egg hunts!

thanks alot, he had a blast, he loves hunting for stuff, he plays hide and seek with candi all the time, but he always cheats and looks were stuff is hidden

yeah we just hope they start listening a little better and we always make sure to tell parker that what his cousin does is not the right thing and that he does not do what he does...he listens to us very intently when we are telling thim that he understands it to we think.

Time flies! He's sooooo cute and I just loved that picture of him in his Easter Sunday suit. What a haul he had from Easter. Such a lucky and loved little boy. I'm looking fwd to hearing about your upcoming trip. I read in one of your posts that you will be stopping at some point in North Atlanta? What part? I live 45 min north of Atlanta.

well i am not sure of the exact place we are staying just that it is a littl enorth of ATL, my dad likes to leave early the next day to get through the rush hour ATL traffic, like there is a slow hour of traffic there.

it is somewhere along the highway i am sure, he does not like to venture far off of it.

Ah ok gotcha. Yeah, Atlanta traffic is BAD on the week days. We always hit the road at 4am to avoid it. It lasts for like 3 hours once it starts and then you have like a 2 hour window between rush hour and lunch traffic.

Chapter 15. Parkers Birthday (part 1)

We always try and not just make 1 day a birthday day in our family, we try for the birthday week.

We do this for all 3 of us, about a week before your birthday, you start to do special things each day. For parker it was no different. His birthday was on friday, so early in the week, we started his, one night we went to a local ice cream place, to get ihs birthday icecream, we walked there and he got to try the different flavors and pick one out with some mix ins. We played some of his favorite games at home.

Then another night we had a campout in the driveway with hot dogs and chips and dip.

parker loves to dip his food in stuff, well that bowl was a bowl of salsa, he kept dipping his hot dog in it for each bite, it was kinda spicy but he liked it.

of course he had to sit in a big boy chair, he wanted nothing to do with the smaller ones.

Since then he has gotten his own little toy story chair and he loves it, so now he uses that.

Then the next night, we went to the park and played for a long time...he even got to try out some of the areas that he has never played on, because they were to big for him in the past.

and his favorite wsa the twisty slide.

the next day was his actual birthday, i had the day off, so we could have fun all day long...he woke up to his presents in the living room.

he got the toy story 2 dvd, he got the 1st one the week before. some new snack containers, both cars sets of toys, and the wall-e one...some new disney shirts for our trip.

also connect 4 and candy land as well as an outdoor sprayer for the yard to play in.

then it was on to chuck e cheese, it was great, it was a friday and early about 10:30 there were 3 other kids in there. maybe 10 total when we left later in the day around 12:30

the best part was the maintanence guy was there, and they were checking and cleaning each machine, so they would open it up take out the tokens that were jammed or tickets and leave them on the floor for the kids to pick up,then they would play the game to make sure it worked, and leave hte tickets, a rough count had parker with about 300 extra tickets and about 20-30 extra tokens that morning on top of the ones that we bought.

the lady told me i could go up in the climbing hting with him so he would not get scared, but he got halfway up and decided against it so we came back down.

of course little boys love race car games.

but this one was his favorite where you put the token in and it shoots it up to fall and knock others over, it was construct trucked themed, he thought when the lady was cleaning it she was trying to get him a truck out of it, she said she would if she could but she had to leave them there.

he also did the race car game with me, he won of course.

and skee ball, where he throws it, it does not make it then, we throw it up the rest of the way.

no high chair for the big birthday boy today, after about an hour of playing, we got our pizza.

he loved the pizza and so do we, candi used to work there in college, and was even chucky a few times, so me and my buddies would go there often and eat dinner we grew tolike there food alot.

will work on part 2 now...for the rest of the day and his party the next day.

You reminded me of a time that I had to climb up into a big slide at a McDonald's play area because my daughter had gone up in there and then was too afraid to slide or climb down.

haha, get in line there is a list of people that want in our family, it started with people wanting in for the 2 week disney trip, now its got birthdays thrown in there as well.

i know hte salsa is actually pretty spicy but he loves it, he even eats the cheesy nacho dip that is spicy. yep they would be best buds if they lived closer together.

yep it is a lawn chair he loves it, it has a cool locking thing so they dont get folded up in it while sitting there.

thats funny, the lady working said she likes to see the adults climb in, it makes her laugh when they try and crawl around in there.

yep she is a celebrity, remember she was even on the public enemies movie set with me before.

we also have other movie star ties in the family i will share later, not suppose to talk about it now, because a family member is working with one right now and have to keep it quite.

My DH and I do birthday weeks too...my birthday is my favorite day of the year so why stop at just one day? My DH does get a little gypped though because his birthday is two days before Christmas. He is used to it but ever since we met I have made sure to do special birthday stuff for him, and not just Christmas stuff.
