Squirts, Shirts, and Flirts, The Legend Continues 2 weeks in FW(wrap up #2 new 11-17)

Dan, I love the wedding pictures. I think I posted on FB while in Florida a Happy Anniversary...but I'll say it again here...Happy Anniversary.

Love the photso of your last night at Disney. We never did see the TRON monorail, but we avoided the monorail except for one day while there two weeks ago.

The pictures in Hawaii are terrific. And that story with Candi's foot is just too much. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

ummmm......wow.....

that's all, just wow! :rotfl2:

And congratulations again on your anniversary! That must have been a popular weekend to get married - it was our anniversary that day, too, and I think Tim's was the next day?

Appreciate the offer but I'm guessing everyone here will pass on that offer for "stinks!"

true we all know that you have your own stinks to worry about.

what a freaking RIOT!!!!!! Candi needs to come here and give us HER rendition....Please, oh Please?!!

I would like to add that I am glad you had to go :rotfl: SO uhh, that lady was gonna pee on Candi???
ill ask her if she will she doesnt have a ton of free internet time anymore, but ill ask her.

yep she was going to hike up the dress and go right there, that would have been funny in its own right but im glad i am the one who was able to help out.

:scared1: About the bite on Candi's foot and :lmao: about the remedy. Glad you could step up and fill the cup. :rotfl2:

::yes:: me too.

i can always hold that over her head, or is it that she gets to hold it over my head.
:scratchin

i think it is a popular time to get married, i know alot of people who have around that time.

glad you liked the story.
:thumbsup2

working on the last three or so chapters....

i might go for a mega update and finish them all together, instead of posting them out over a couple of days.

Dan...so you get internet time but she doesn't? Hmm....well, I think we need to change that.

Chapter 56. Upcountry and the trip to hana.

we are now on our 12th day of the island life, and we finally take our first trip upcountry.

upcountry has alot of twists and turns to the roads as it sort of has to hug the mountain side and dip and sway with the land.

we packed a lunch and decided to have a picnic on the way to the winery.

here was our view from the park that we stopped at.
DSC01346.jpg

and we even had some guys who were gliding down from the top of the volcano that were landing in the field right in front of us.

well most landed, this guys approach looked good.

DSC01349-1.jpg

but he needs to work on hitting the empty field and not the tree.
DSC01353.jpg

i was actually video on my camcorder when he landed, and we couldnt stop laughint when he hit he sort of jerked backward then rolled, this was after that trying to figure out how to get out of the tree.

all of his buddies were giving him stuff and making fun of him, then they started to help him out.
DSC01364.jpg

we packed up and went on our way.

we made it to the winery and started sampling.
DSC01373.jpg

of course we had to get a local pineapple wine to take home...i was thinking ahead and brough an insulated wine cooler to put it in for the plane trip home.

it has enough room i was able to pack a beach towel around it and knew it would be safe.

the following day we woke early to start the long trek to the city of hana, and drive on "the road to hana" it is an awesome drive where around every turn, there is a picture opportunity....on the 50 mile stretch is 54 one lane bridges, and over 600 hair pin turns...check out the link above to see a little video on it.

here are a few pictures that we took on the trip.
DSC01412.jpg

DSC01421.jpg

three bears waterfalls.
DSC01431-1.jpg

at one of the stops we ran into this nice gentlman making these bowls...

i wont get into the details of what was discused but it was an awesome and very emotional religious experience for candi and just what she needed on this day.

we were very blessed to run into him and she still talks about the story of meeting him to this day...we will never forget it and privledged to meet him.

he allowed us to take a picture with him.

DSC01445.jpg

we finally made it to the city of hana and the black sand beaches.

the road to the beaches.
DSC01447-1.jpg

here is the view from our picnic lunch

DSC01455-1.jpg

my sister in law showed us a spot that many people dont see, it is down a path that most people stop at the first cave location to see the sites and dont continue on to the second stop that is what they are really reffering to in the sign.
DSC01456-1.jpg

and also a great spot to do some cave jumping.

the only reason i jumped in with everyone was you could see the bottom.

DSC01497.jpg

we jumped in a few times...and swam around...

there was a spot to the right that went under a rock wall that you could swim to and go into the cave.

my BIL wanted me to go with, so i went over there ( a little bit of the way into the cave) about the distance that i was still sort of in the cave but still on the daylight side.

he kept calling me a chicken, and i told him "hey ive seen scary movies, half the people dont make it out of something like this"

there were a few local hawaiians at the cave jumping in as well, and they were laughing at me.

i told them go ahead, im not going to be some news story.

in truth it wasnt really scary, i just didnt like how you couldnt see down into the black water once you got in there, and didnt know what was below me.

ill take being a chicken for that.

but i did sort of have my whole body in if even for the shortest of seconds.

after the caves we went out to the black sand beach....where parker was wondering why the sand wasnt making his fingers dirty.
DSC01513.jpg

the top of the beach again on our way to the blow hole. on the left you can see the black sand beach we were just at, on the right you can see two arches over the water that have been carved away.
DSC01528.jpg

there were two locations that were blowing water out...some were small like this.
DSC01536.jpg

some were huge and got you soaked like this.
DSC01538.jpg

on the way back we stopped to see the rainbow forest.
DSC01553.jpg

there were a ton of these trees.

another shot of the bowls up close.
DSC01568.jpg

all of the designs were different, but here is the bottom of one to see the detail they were done in.
DSC01570.jpg

they were made from the lives of palm trees.

Chapter 57. the other beach and not again....

this was now our full two week mark and candis parents last day of the trip, so they wanted to spend it at the beach till they went to the airport that night.

we went to big beach (clothing required beach) which is next to little beach (clothing optional beach)

here we are on big beach.

having a good time running down little sand hills.

big beach is also the one i was doing the body boarding at a few chapters ago.
DSC05817.jpg

candi got a little artsy in her photo skills.
DSC05791.jpg

after a few hours and a few drinks on the beach, us guys decided it was time to go check out little beach.

first let me explain, as you sit there on the beach you see about every 5 minutes another couple or group of people head up that the hill to the little beach....everyone is curious and we were not the first ones of the day to do this...maybe more like number 150 of the day.

it is straight ahead in this picture up that rock wall.

parker did not want to be left out and insisted on coming with.

DSC05821.jpg

here is the walkway up the wall...the whole way up that wall, parker kept saying.

"why we going to the nudie beach daddy"

over and over, well an older couple who was coming down the wall heard him and they couldnt stop laughing at us trying to explain to him why we were going over there.

DSC05822.jpg

a view from on top of the wall looking back at big beach, see where it gets it name from.
DSC05823.jpg

its huge.

the path down to little beach.
DSC05825.jpg

thats all i will go to from there, i can neither confirm nor deny that any additional pictures were taken after this of little beach.

:upsidedow

before i get comments on parker going, he was kept back and didnt see anything all he knew was the path to the beach.

now lets continue with a few more pictures.

our trip wouldnt be complete without the next day going to the fire house so parker could see hawaii fire trucks.
DSC01566.jpg

and another coastal trip...the big mound in the background is the hills seperateing big and little beach big is closer to us.
DSC01590.jpg

this guy thought his wall would stop the tide from coming in his tent he set up many hours ago on low tide.

DSC01593.jpg

news alert: it didnt.

but i thought it would be rude to take a picture of his fail.

and one of the second to last day pictures with parker and me going in the water.
DSC01597.jpg

more of the final hawaii days to come next

-----------------------------------------------------
we are now at our leaving day...we wake about 5 something to get ready

candi and parker head up to the bathouse to walk off some energy for him before getting in the truck.

DSC02147.jpg

i take the opportunity to see the campground wake up with the sun.
these were all taken from our site.

DSC02148.jpg

DSC02149.jpg

DSC02150.jpg

parker and I had a job of taking up the rear jacks, he loved helping with this.
DSC02156.jpg

and a great backseat farwell sign shot.
DSC02157.jpg

so all is well on the way home we are making good time through FL and hit the GA state line.

in the far far distant memory of everyone is the trip down which we felt the truck shaking and pulled off to see a giant "pimple" on the front tire, to then have the tire blow a few seconds after i was under the truck checking things.

so we are about 20 or so minutes into GA when I look out the back window and see a truck pulling a cargo trailer behind it swerve a little towards us, i tell my dad and a few seconds later we hear a lout pop like a gunshot in out truck.

we knew he didnt hit us, but he must have done something as here is the result.

the inside back dulley blew out...it was so powerful that it caused the truck bed to blow up the back section should be straight down not like it is.

DSC02159.jpg

under neath the truck after we stopped.
DSC02160.jpg

good thing about having duel tires in the back is that you can still drive with one good one.

we got off the next ramp which was 20 seconds away from where it happened.

and went to a gas station.

we called around and found there was a tire repair shop about a mile down the road from where we were.

the gas station was big enough that had semi parking, so we unhooked the trailer and were on our way to the repair center.

the guy at the shop said that the size of the blow that if it was the outside tire, we would have lost the whole back panel of the truck on the outside.

instead of the small amount of frame we did loose.

it was lunch time so we searched out a place to have lunch while the tire was being repaired.

which my dad didnt want any more problems so he had all four back tires repaired as well as the spare tire.

(we had the front two repaired on the way down after that blowout)

side note:

my dad had the back bed repaired, they put a whole new bed in sprayed a new bed lining, and repaired the whole back fender.

then a few months later he felt he needed a whole new truck, so he got a new Ford 4 door dulley.

which is about 2 times as powerful as the 4 door dulley he had.

so lunch time.

when you see a sign like this you know it is a good place. the name of the place was lake dogs.

DSC02164.jpg

we chose this place over the other restraunt at the corner which was called "the rajun cajun"

it looked like a place that actually had alligators at it.

so we were glad we chose the lake dogs instead.

if you have ever watched dinners drive ins and dives on the food channel this would be a dive bar.

it was not dirty on the inside but was a little hole in the wall place.

but they had great food.

parker enjoyed his hotdog and tall bar stoll tables.

DSC02163.jpg

the rest of the trip home was uneventful.

we stopped in northern GA for the first night, camped the pool maybe ten minutes before we got there ( at 8:00) and the guy wouldnt let us go swimming even though it was still bright out for the next almost 2 hours. not sure why the close so early maybe because it was also a senior seasonal camping place, so they were all sleeping already.:confused3

the next days travels went smooth and we were glad to be home after a long 2+ weeks in FL.

i will have a closing chapter of highlights and memorable things from the trip....so stay tunned.

i missed the whole pregnancy......congrats to the parents!!!! may you have many more;)
good thing is you can look back and see the news about it. :thumbsup2

we think we are done with two, we are happy with one boy one girl.

Dan, the pictures of Hawaii are breathtaking. Mark and I really need to make a return trip there one day (it's been 28 years since we were there...just wish there was another way than flying ;) ).

Sorry about the tire trouble on the way home; but the good news is NO one was hurt.

Can't wait for your wrap-up.

Still hard to believe I really haven't been on the DIS regularly for about 16 months:eek:. But God knew what needed to happen! Thanks for your support Dan!

Well this serial lurker is finally making an appearance. I have been skulking around DIS for a while reading and enjoying everyone's TR's but I have joined most so late I haven't bothered posting. Well I have spent most of today reading this report and I just wanted to tell you what a beautiful family you have. Parker is just the happiest kid I have ever seen. What a cutie and how lucky is he to have such awesome parents and Grandparents? congrats on the new baby! Thanks for the entertainment. I look forward to reading the rest!

One question, is that the Aulani you stayed at in Hawaii?

Hi Dan! I'm sorry to see your WDW trip end. So glad you were all fine with the tire blow out again. The force reminded me of how blessed you are with being under the truck with the first one - we had a 20 yr old guy from a local tire shop who was working on a farm truck tire become a vegetable because of a brain injury sustained from a blowout. God is good. All the time.

Beautiful pics of your road to Hana! Those views are amazing! There is a possibility DH might be sent to Hawaii in Feb and I'm planning to join him - I get so excited when I see your pics! The cave swimming is kind of scarey - don't blame you.

:( Your WDW trip is over. I've enjoyed reading this.

Awesome shots of Hawaii. I'd love to go there someday but the flights from NJ are a killer both timewise and $$. It looks breathtaking. Maybe some day!
