Chapter 57. the other beach and not again....
this was now our full two week mark and candis parents last day of the trip, so they wanted to spend it at the beach till they went to the airport that night.
we went to big beach (clothing required beach) which is next to little beach (clothing optional beach)
here we are on big beach.
having a good time running down little sand hills.
big beach is also the one i was doing the body boarding at a few chapters ago.
candi got a little artsy in her photo skills.
after a few hours and a few drinks on the beach, us guys decided it was time to go check out little beach.
first let me explain, as you sit there on the beach you see about every 5 minutes another couple or group of people head up that the hill to the little beach....everyone is curious and we were not the first ones of the day to do this...maybe more like number 150 of the day.
it is straight ahead in this picture up that rock wall.
parker did not want to be left out and insisted on coming with.
here is the walkway up the wall...the whole way up that wall, parker kept saying.
"why we going to the nudie beach daddy"
over and over, well an older couple who was coming down the wall heard him and they couldnt stop laughing at us trying to explain to him why we were going over there.
a view from on top of the wall looking back at big beach, see where it gets it name from.
its huge.
the path down to little beach.
thats all i will go to from there, i can neither confirm nor deny that any additional pictures were taken after this of little beach.
before i get comments on parker going, he was kept back and didnt see anything all he knew was the path to the beach.
now lets continue with a few more pictures.
our trip wouldnt be complete without the next day going to the fire house so parker could see hawaii fire trucks.
and another coastal trip...the big mound in the background is the hills seperateing big and little beach big is closer to us.
this guy thought his wall would stop the tide from coming in his tent he set up many hours ago on low tide.
news alert: it didnt.
but i thought it would be rude to take a picture of his fail.
and one of the second to last day pictures with parker and me going in the water.
more of the final hawaii days to come next
-----------------------------------------------------
we are now at our leaving day...we wake about 5 something to get ready
candi and parker head up to the bathouse to walk off some energy for him before getting in the truck.
i take the opportunity to see the campground wake up with the sun.
these were all taken from our site.
parker and I had a job of taking up the rear jacks, he loved helping with this.
and a great backseat farwell sign shot.
so all is well on the way home we are making good time through FL and hit the GA state line.
in the far far distant memory of everyone is the trip down which we felt the truck shaking and pulled off to see a giant "pimple" on the front tire, to then have the tire blow a few seconds after i was under the truck checking things.
so we are about 20 or so minutes into GA when I look out the back window and see a truck pulling a cargo trailer behind it swerve a little towards us, i tell my dad and a few seconds later we hear a lout pop like a gunshot in out truck.
we knew he didnt hit us, but he must have done something as here is the result.
the inside back dulley blew out...it was so powerful that it caused the truck bed to blow up the back section should be straight down not like it is.
under neath the truck after we stopped.
good thing about having duel tires in the back is that you can still drive with one good one.
we got off the next ramp which was 20 seconds away from where it happened.
and went to a gas station.
we called around and found there was a tire repair shop about a mile down the road from where we were.
the gas station was big enough that had semi parking, so we unhooked the trailer and were on our way to the repair center.
the guy at the shop said that the size of the blow that if it was the outside tire, we would have lost the whole back panel of the truck on the outside.
instead of the small amount of frame we did loose.
it was lunch time so we searched out a place to have lunch while the tire was being repaired.
which my dad didnt want any more problems so he had all four back tires repaired as well as the spare tire.
(we had the front two repaired on the way down after that blowout)
side note:
my dad had the back bed repaired, they put a whole new bed in sprayed a new bed lining, and repaired the whole back fender.
then a few months later he felt he needed a whole new truck, so he got a new Ford 4 door dulley.

which is about 2 times as powerful as the 4 door dulley he had.
so lunch time.
when you see a sign like this you know it is a good place. the name of the place was lake dogs.
we chose this place over the other restraunt at the corner which was called "the rajun cajun"
it looked like a place that actually had alligators at it.
so we were glad we chose the lake dogs instead.
if you have ever watched dinners drive ins and dives on the food channel this would be a dive bar.
it was not dirty on the inside but was a little hole in the wall place.
but they had great food.
parker enjoyed his hotdog and tall bar stoll tables.
the rest of the trip home was uneventful.
we stopped in northern GA for the first night, camped the pool maybe ten minutes before we got there ( at 8:00) and the guy wouldnt let us go swimming even though it was still bright out for the next almost 2 hours. not sure why the close so early maybe because it was also a senior seasonal camping place, so they were all sleeping already.
the next days travels went smooth and we were glad to be home after a long 2+ weeks in FL.
i will have a closing chapter of highlights and memorable things from the trip....so stay tunned.
