Purchasing my new I-pod through Amazon and decided to purchase the warranty directly through SquareTrade instead of through Amazon. When I called SquareTrade for more information, they gave me a 40% discount code if you use "warrantysanta" at checkout. Got a 3 year, accidental coverage warranty for $32.99. Through amazon it was $34.99 and did not cover accidental damage. Just wanted to pass along the deal as you all have helped me save so much. Happy shopping.

I always see this place mentioned on slickdeals but I checked last month when I bought a camera for DD16 and unfortunately they don't offer warranties to Maine residents. I bought a tv and a front-load washer yesterday and would love to be able to buy their extended warranty :sad2:

sadly...not in Wisconsin either!

I wanted to use them for DS new DS lite..but if you get the accidental coverage, there is a 50.00 deductible... Doesn't pay for that :(.

For a $300 I-pod touch, it's a GREAT deal. Most warranties are more expensive, have a shorter term and have NO accidental coverage. I'd much rather pay $50 than another $300...just depends on the purchase.

Thanks! For 23.99 I have covered my dd and ds ipod touch (195.00) for 3 years and that includes accidental coverage also. Great deal from Square Trade. I used the code warrantysanta and also received a first time discount of 20% more. Also if anyone else wants to use my email as a reference just type in pmbryan@farmerstel.com. I would have been happy to have put someone as a referrel to me -if I had an email, so they could have received the $5.00 credit. Thanks again!

For iPods I think it is a pretty good trade off. You get the $50 deductible but a cheaper price and an extra year.

I got a great deal on the Sq Trade for the Kindle DX we just bought. Amazon's warranty was over $100 and only 2 years with no accidental damage. I paid $59 for 3 years with accidental damage.

I'm not sure what company Best Buy uses for their store warranties but after 2 horrible experiences trying to get them to honor their warranty we won't use them anymore.

For a $199 ipod owned by a teenage son, a $50 deductible for each accidental event didn't work for me. I know that in two years, he will have at least 2 accidents. Actually, he got the thing in August and dropped it last week. I took it back to BB and although there was a bit of a quandry on their part for how to replace the old generation when they had none, it was settled and I left with a new generation one AND a refund because the price went down. There was never a question that the warranty covered the damage. Now the warranty is extended from when I replaced it.

With ST, how do you get your new item? I am assuming its a mail in program. Do they send you a new one, fix the broken one, or send you a check or what? I like that I can go in and get a new item on the spot at BB.

I can't imagine anyone needs a 3 year warranty on an Ipod. In 3 years, that technology will be dead, you know?

See Torinsmom, around here the teens are really careful with their stuff and it is ME who needs the no holds barred accidental damage warranty. I can't tell you how many times I've left a cell phone in my pocket and sent it through the laundry. It is embarrassing when your kids are more responsible with electronics than you are.

That's a good customer service story. We've had nothing but terrible experiences with our local Best Buy here and they are on my will never set foot in the door again list - not just their warranty policy but just the store in general.

I have a friend who had a Kindle go kaput with a Square Trade warranty. I know she had her replacement pretty quick but I'm not sure of the exact process. Given it was a Kindle though it had to be a mail in process, there isn't any other way to get a Kindle.

My husband is currently using his 4 year old I-pod...thus the upgrade. We WILL be using this I-pod for the next 3 years...especially since we are covered with the warranty.

Oh man! I just bought the ST warranty thru Amazon last Friday for the two iTouch that I bought. I would have gotten the accidental warranty for DH but it wasn't offered thru Amazon!

So, does ST cover washing electronics? I know BB will cover spilling a drink on an ipod but does not cover immersion. I didn't think any warranty covered that.

You are lucky to have careful teens. If I want something to break, all I have to do is give it to DS, LOL. Most of the time it is a freak accident too.
