SPUD at VB?

This is probably a stupid question, but I got VB to fax me a list of activities for next week and one of them is SPUD??? What is that?

I just had a major flashback to my youth, it is somethig you play, but big huge brain fart coming on, I can't remember what it was!!! I just remember the name!

Definately an outdoor game, maybe with a football or somethig? Man, only 37 and already loosing brain cells!

I can't promise you this is right, but I found the following........


Spud (active)

Equipment: Ball Throw the ball up in the air and call a number. Ask number 1 is called, if he catches the ball he calls another number. (Each player has been given his own number.) If he doesn't catch the ball he calls "FREEZE" and takes three giant steps and tries to hit a person with the ball below the waist. If he hits the person then they get a point against them and get to call a new number. If the player misses the person he is trying to hit then he gets a point against him and has to throw the ball up.

That's right, we used to yell SPUD instead of freeze. Good game. We'd call out a name in stead of a number too. Of course, we were a bit progressive, and would advance to ghosts in the graveyard as it got darker. Thanks for bringing back some memories, those would be fun to share at Vero.
