Does anyone have a palm pre? Do you like it?

We have older model nextels right now and we are looking to upgrade. I really want an Iphone, but I am thinking we might stick with sprint. Any thoughts?

We had thesame situation. We also had Nextel and went to the Pre when it came out. Overall we really like the Pre, it has had some glitches which is expected with a new phone. We live in the Chicagoland area, and must say the service is not as good as Nextel. Nextel was excellent on reception in which I never dropped a call or had static, which is not the case with Sprint. I drop calls about 3-4 times a week and have static calls about the same amount of time. Overall love the phone but Sprint coverage not as good as Nextel.

pp I have to ask, is it possibly the phone? Hubby has been with sprint for a while now and just went from a flip-type phone to the instinct and calls are awful. Same service just a different type of phone. I have the htc touch (I can only say stay away from it, it's awful). When we're eligibl for new phones, I will be testing out a bunch of them.

OP when we got our phones (hubby has been with them for a while but we went for family plan). I was too busy right when we did this but I was told I would able to take the phone back in, within 30 days, to exchange it if I was not happy with it--and hubby did, he had the touch and went to the instinct. I would assume they are still doing this. I don't know if this is just at the beginning of new service or if you are already with them, if they will allow you to do this.

I have it....I have never had any problems with Sprint and I have been with them for several years. I too wanted the Iphone but quite honestly the cost of the service plan with ATT is just to much compared to what I get with Sprint.
I went from the Instinct (which I wasn't crazy about) to the Pre, at first I didn't like it and almost took it back, but now I am falling in love with it, I love how it fits in my hand, the screen and pictures are beautiful, it's easy to see. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that it doesn't have voice command or a "favorites list" for most used numbers, it does have a speed dial I think???
I can access Facebook and Myspace and the Dis from it. It takes good pictures too.
Also the battery life kinda sucks, but since I am not much of a talker it hasn't affected me, I think the next generation ones will be better.
There is also a whole forum on the net that can help you get around the phone. www.palmpreforum.org
You may want to check it out and see what others are saying about the phone.
That being said, I think I will love this phone once I figure out more about it....I am blonde and I am technically challenged!

I want an iPhone desperately, but I get a corporate discount at Sprint, so I can't financially make the switch. I got the Pre two weeks ago and I am in LOVE with it. I access my email from it, surf the web, take pictures, Twitter, Facebook, etc. I use it for work and for play both. I can text on it much better than my last phone (HTC Touch).

Drawbacks...battery (I bought a backup on eBay) and camera doesn't zoom. But the quality of the pictures is pretty darn good.

Now my husband is saying that he needs one, too. :rotfl2:

I too get the corporate discount so with that and with the plan being cheaper than the one you would need with the Iphone, I will survive! The little thing actually grows on you....I will have to look into the extra battery, I do keep a charger in the car. I just bought some new covers on Ebay last night :goodvibes

I wondered as well. I have the Centro and want an IPhone, but we've been with Sprint for 3 years. Our plan is too cheap to let go. We have 2 phones that share minutes our bills run $120 and that's with the data plan on both phones, plus unlimited texts. We've never gone over. I wanted to go with less minutes, but the plans cost more now than when we signed. Plus I can add a line for $9.99 that shares the minues and the texts... that's 3 phones for less than $150.

I have had the Palm Pre for a couple weeks. It took me forever to get it.. There was a waiting list.. I LOVE IT though... I am still getting use to it.. I do not like that I cant clear all of my alerts at once.. I have to go to each missed call, voicemail, email ,etc to get them off my screen!

No you don't have to do it that way...I am not technically savy but I found out how to do it on www.palmpreforums.org It's great way to learn all the ins and out of it.
I believe that when you clear the missed calls, emails etc. you go up to the right hand corner and drop down the menu and then select clear all....I am not sure about that but I do know there is a way.

To clear your call history go to the call list, then go to the 'sprint menu" at the top left of the screen and selct call history, it kinda works the same way for deleting the emails and the voice messages. I hope that was clear.

to add a number to speed dial
open contacts and find the name, touch the name to open the contact app. while viewing your contact tap contacts at the top left of the screen, when that menu opens up tap "set speed dial" tap the number you want to set as a speed dial and assign the speed dial number.

Thanks for the great info. I too have been wondering what to do and researching different plans, providers and phones. I can't get as good a deal as I get from Sprint. I currently have the palm centro and was happy with it for the first few months, but it has caused nothing but trouble in the past 6 months. Both of my dd's and my dsil have it also and have had the same issues as I have. That makes me hesitant to get another Palm product, but I like the features of the Palm Pre. It really helps to hear some good comments about it.
