Springtime Surprise 2026 (Apr 16-20)

So, I am already doing the 10K and half at Marathon Weekend and potentially also taking a trip in late March, but I am really trying to figure out how to make the 10-miler work. :p I love Inside Out, and I’ve been dying to be able to do the 10-miler course. Since I’ll have a couple other trips so close, I wouldn’t really care at all about the parks and would make it something really quick (i.e. fly in Friday and maybe even out Sunday evening). Tell me I’m not crazy!

If you've come here to be talked OUT of a race, you've come to the wrong place.

Plenty of us have done race-only trips, and honestly that time of year, it might be preferable. The parks will be busy, but it'll be warm enough to enjoy your resort pool or even hit up a water park for a cheaper change of pace. Or hide in the AC with a little resort hopping.

I did my first "no parks" trip on my first Springtime Surprise weekend and I had sooooo much fun. I never felt bored or deprived and actually felt busier (and came home more tired) than I do on a normal race weekend. And I was still left with a list of "someday I'll do THAT" things for the next trip.

True, BUT the SS race weekend is almost always HOT, and if you don't do well in the heat or are coming from a northern climate where summer weather hasn't yet settled in, it can be rough. Consider how well you tolerate a hot race and/or plan to do some heat acclimation at the end of your training for sure.
This is why I'm only doing the 5K for this race weekend. I'd like to get a medal for every distance at a Disney race (already have a 10K medal from this year's Marathon Weekend) and the April series seems like a no brainer to knock out a quick 5K.

Definitely not looking to be talked out of it. Moreso just talking through my thoughts. :upsidedow

My plan was to register for the challenge regardless of theme. But, I like it. Star Wars would have been better but I might be able to talk my daughter into the weekend now that it has Pooh and Inside Out!

Just getting back from a cruise and seeing the themes.
I’m disappointed it doesn’t include Star Wars. I think the themes are okay. To be honest, I will run this weekend whatever the themes are. Pooh and Tigger should be fun and Aladdin has great songs! I like Nick and Judy, and I am a little indifferent on Inside Out. Overall I think this is a fun weekend, and it will continue to be with these themes.

My sister officially committed to trying for the 10 miler with me. Anything for an extra Disney girls weekend :)

So! Any expert tips for registration day?

I don't know if you'll need them. Challenge and 10 miler didn't sell out for months last year, the year prior the challenge was sold out a lot quicker but the 10 miler still remained open for awhile. In 2023 both were open beyond the first day. For a variety of reasons (most notably the weather) this registration hasn't been as chaotic as others.

But, if we're treating this with the same urgency as other weekends... be ready to jump into the queue waiting room when it opens (should be BEFORE 10 am eastern), have multiple devices in the queue to increase your odds, and keep an eye on this thread. Don't panic if your queues are all over an hour off the bat, things can move quickly. Once people start signing up they'll start sharing unused queue IDs (preferably in DMs). If you end up needing one instructions on how to use it are here.

Have to note that last registration for Princess Weekend was kind of a disaster (website crashed as they tried to open the waiting room, they ended up randomly opening the queue) but I'm more optimistic about this weekend just by virtue of this being a less busy weekend. I hope I don't regret saying that!

I *think* I am going to casually try for the 5k during registration, but not gonna stress if/when I don’t get it. I have a mammogram appointment at 11:15 so won’t be able to spend a whole lot of time trying to get spot.
