SpringHill Suites vs Residence Inn ~ Sea World

We are tossing up the idea of not going to Disney at all in January since we usually go every year & instead getting the Flex Pass and splitting our Hotel stay between HRH & one of these 2 resorts.

I'm not sure which to pick but I like the Sea World Perks that come with both of them.

While we go to Disney every year we've never been to Universal. So we may give it a shot and change it up a bit.

Recommendations on either?

We stayed at the Residence Inn by Sea World in October of 2011. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. It was beautiful, and we booked through Sea World for a package that included our stay, tickets to Sea World, tickets to Busch Gardens,and all day dining at both of those parks. We also did two days at Universal while we stayed. They have a really nice breakfast and a beautiful pool area. We were able to walk to Sea World.

There were four of us - myself, DH, and DD ages 13 and 8 at the time.

We stayed at Residence Inn in 2010 and it was a great hotel. One of the best- if not the best- free continental breakfast I ever had.

Have you checked pricing at the Renaissance (a Marriott property) right across the street from SeaWorld?

The rooms are double the price of the other 2 resorts.

Yea, I figured that may be the case, but thought it was at least worth looking in.

Honestly, they're both fine. The SeaWorld area has really grown the last couple of years in terms of restaurants, etc.

Do you get the free "front of the line" passes at those properties?

Its basically the same price we are paying for Hard rock hotel at the start of our trip.

The only reason we are switching halfway through is for the benefits of the Sea World On-site hotels.

Its also worth noting that while the Renaissance is more upscale and has the best location, they also charge you for internet access (in your room) and parking (both free at several of the other onsite properties). Breakfast is also an additional cost. So not only is the room price a consideration, but sometimes the inclusions (or exclusions) as far as amenities go can make a substantial difference in the overall total.
