Springhill Suites in Marriott Village?

We are planning a trip at the end of June and for the first time we are staying outside of Disney. I've been looking through the list of hotels for days and I keep going back to the Springhill suites in Marriott Village. We may be going to Universal on this trip as well as sometime at Disney so I was looking for a suite somewhere in between but I was planning on spending less than $100 and this place is $95 for our travel dates and I can't seem to find anything closer to the midway point with good reviews on trip advisor. So my question is have you stayed here and also traveled to Universal or do you have another suite you could recommend in the same price range? I've already checked WH and my dates are not available and we don't want to rent a condo or home and we don't want to stay inside disney. Thanks, Linda :)

This is a good hotel in a good location. The hotel is in a complex of 3 Marriott chains, including Courtyard and Fairfield Inn. You have access to all amenities at all hotels. There are many restaurants nearby, most within walking distance. You are literally about 1 minute away from being on I-4, where it should take you no longer than 10-15 mins. to get to Universal.

You will enjoy your stay here, its a good hotel.

Thank you MattM, I will probalbly be booking this resort as soon as I know my exact dates. Linda :)

We stayed in August and were not impressed.

The good:
Room had 2 TV's which got one for kids and one for us.
Rooms were very clean as was lobby.

The bad:
Making the left from 535 was a major pain. One day it took me 25 minutes from Blizzard Beach.
The breakfast does not have nearly enough tables or keep food stocked at peak times. The breakfast was not that good either.
The pool was not skimmed the 5 days we were there and very dirty.
The rooms are not the size I would expect in a suite but more a hotel room with 2 beds and a sofa sleeper.
I was charged for calls we did not make--we all have cell phones and did not use theirs. The calls happened during the day when we were in the parks.

I would not stay there again, but cannot think of anything to recommend.

I have stayed there and didn't have any problems.

Another option is the Marriott Courtyard Lake Buena Vista. Not quite as nice as the Springhill, but they often have a good deal on thier two room suites!

I checked out this hotel it is nice, a little more money but it's a separate bedroom which is nice so I'm considering this as well. I'm trying to find a hotel suite closer to Universal at a good price but I hav'nt found one yet. We may just go to Universal this trip and save the disney passes I have left from our last trip for a future trip except for a day at the water parks at disney since we have 5 days of water parks visits left on our passes. Linda :)

Check the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott on Canada Ave. Its just off International Drive. But the SpringHill Suites and the Courtyard that Carol mentioned are not far at all from Universal.

There's also a Springhill Suites on Universal Boulevard. From the notes I'm reading it says "40 different restaurants lie within walking distance....."

I stayed at the SHS on Universal Blvd this year (not the same as the one in Marriott Village). It was a very nice hotel - however the room we had, although larger than just a room with 2 beds, wasn't 2 separate rooms. There was a sofa, chair, desk, wet bar area & TV right when you walked in the room, the right after that were the beds & bathroom. No door or divider of any kind. So if you need a suite with 2 private rooms I'd call ahead to see if that SHS in the Marriott Village has just that.
