We are planning a family vacation for October and are thinking of staying at the Springhill Suites. If anyone has stayed there I would be interested in knowing how convenient it is to DisneyWorld. Is it close? Is it better to drive or take the shuttles?

We have always stayed at a Disney Resort, this is the first time staying at an off site hotel, so I am a wee bit nervous.

If you're talking about the SpringHill Suites, at Marriott Village, it's very nice, new and clean. There's a sofabed, desk, small fridge, microwave in the first part of the room, and a half divider for the second part of the room with the bed or beds. Free breakfast downstairs. You can pool hop between the 3 pools at the 3 different Mariotts there; the one at the Courtyard is the nicest. You use your room key to access the door to the pool area.

When we stayed there (we stayed at the Courtyard, our friends stayed at the SH Suites, which is how I saw the room, plus we've stayed at other SHSuites in other cities--same layout) we preferred to drive to WDW. It gives you much more flexibility for getting back and forth to the parks. There is an $8. per day parking fee at the parks, but it is good all day, even if you switch to a different park. The hotel provides big busses if you decide to go that route; you'll have to check with the front desk for the schedule.

The hotel itself is just down the street from DTD; very conventient.

HTH! Have fun!

Dis-happy, thank you very much, we're going in August and staying at the Springhill suites and it's nice to get a first hand experience as you are sometimes picking these hotels, via the internet.

Could you please tell me where about the springhill suites is, whats by it, we are going in june and dont know where about it is. :sunny:

I thought the Spring Hill suites were OK. I didnt' think the room was very big though. It is off 535 very close to I-4. You overlook I-4 from some of the rooms. You are fairly close to Downtown Disney.

It's about three miles from WDW and it's actual address is 8623 Vineland Avenue, Orlando. Phone number 1-407-938-9001. It also has shuttle service too and from the parks for a fee. It's located in Lake Buene Vista, Marriott Village, adjacent to a Courtyard also. There are great pictures on the web. www.marriott.com They also have a continental breakfast everymorning. I understand from reading other posts out there, that it is a nice hotel, but don't let the word suite fool you. But, in my opinion, it's a hotel that you just sleep at and maybe spend a day swimming. We're mainly in Florida for Disney.

ps - If you go let me know what you think when you get back. Thanks !!

We stayed there just after it opened in ?2000?. It was a very nice hotel. As a previous poster said it is very close to downtown Disney. There is also an outlet mall just around the corner. There are restaurants attached to the hotel complex. The website for the hotel is www.marriottvillage.com Hope you have a great time.

We stayed in one of the other Marriotts at that location for a night a couple of years ago and found it overcrowded. We have four kids and are generally pretty tolerant of the younger set, but they were in abundance and running wild at this resort. Breakfast was such a zoo that we were forced to take our muffins and juice back to the room.

Maybe we just hit them on a bad day (can't really remember the season) but I wouldn't be anxious to go back.

My son had a 5th grade class trip last May and we stayed at the Spring Hill resort at the Marriot Village. The rooms were big enough, clean and I like the place and would stay again.

We stayed there the last week of May 2004. The location was excellent for an offsite. It is about one minute off of exit 68 on I-4. We used a rental car so I don't know about shuttle service. I do know that the driving times were very convenient. On the night we stayed for Illuminations it took us 7 minutes to get from the EPCOT parking lot to the hotel parking lot. THat is pretty quick in my book.

We also found that the free breakfast was very good. All 3 of our kids were very satisfied with it every morning.
