Springhill Suites, ASM, Oak Plantation

We are planning our first trip to WDW October 15-25, 2004. We currently have booked a reservation for ASM but I am beginning to wonder if this is the right thing. We only have a budget of $100 per night so the All Star resorts were the only choice for staying onsite. We wewre leaning towards onsite because of early entry etc. What is worrying me is the size of the rooms (seem small) and all the walking to the food court and the bus system. We can for the same price do the Springhill Suites get a free breakfast, rent a car and not worry about Disney transportation system. Or we can get a 2 bedroom condo type thing at Oak Plantation. I am just overwhelmed with this decision, please help if you can!

I've never stayed at the All Stars but have enjoyed a stay at the Oak Plantation. Recently there were people posting about it. I have often stayed a majority of my vacation in a large condo or home and stayed on site for a couple of nights to get the best of both worlds. Would that work for you?

Absolutely pick the 2-bed condo. You'll never want to stay in a hotel again once you are spoiled by all the extra space. I've stayed at All Stars and the rooms are pretty small. And I've stayed at various SpringHill Suites (not in Orlando). They are nice, but not true suites - just an oversized room, no door separating the sleeping area from the sitting area.

In the condo, you can have privacy which is a great thing on a family vacation.

I don't know about Oak Plantation specifically but you should be able to get a 2-bedroom condo for no more than $60/nite depending on season.
