Spring "What are you reading?" Book Thread

Just finished The Hunger Games from suggestions on this board I cant wait to read Catching Fire!!

I take a more cynical view - Patterson sketches out the plot and the other writer spends the time fleshing out the book.

I think you are right! I am reading "Witch and Wizard" and it isn't that good - easy enough read but just not great. Of course, it doesn't help that I am reading it on the heals of "Hunger Games"/"Catching Fire"!!!!! "W&W" is the first in a series, but I won't be reading any more of them.

Maybe it appeals more to the younger audience it is intended for, but "Hunger Games" and "Catching Fire" are for the same ages while also appealing to adults. I am all for anything(!) that gets young people reading, but there is just no comparison between the two. I thought Patterson was supposed to be a better writer than that - our dea goes a long way to explain things!!!

:):wizard:

Okay, I just finished reading a "trash" novel that my ds looked over my shoulder, gasped and said, you're kidding, right mom, ya really reading that junk??? I guess he did not like it :rotfl2::rotfl2: But thats what I like in the summer, Light, non thinking, trash :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Just finished Sizzling Sixteen by Janet Evanovich. I didn't think it was her best...
Also read Private by James Patterson - good quick read...

Just finished Can't Wait to Get to Heaven by Fannie Flag. Loved it.
Just started Dakota Born by Debbie Macomber...absolutely loving it...it got me very quick and I can't put it down. I already took out the second one from the library today.

Just finished "Firefly Lane" by Kristen Hannah. Loved it, finished it in 2 days.
Anyone else read this, I would love to hear your thoughts..

This is an older book but I just finished The Outlander and it was good! I really liked reading it and for a big book it was a "quick" read because it was so good.

Just picked up the last in the Sookie Stackhouse series and it starts off well.
Highly recommend the series for summer reading.

I am now reading Careless in Red by Ellizabeth George. Just finished Black Light by Stephen Hunter.

Keep going with the Outlander series......really really good!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Just finished a "Super Agent Series" by Misty Evans......new author very engaging - easy read:yay::yay:

Been having withdrawal from Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter series:love::love:

So I am reading her Tall Dark and Dangerous series.......HOT HOT HOT:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

How can you not love a Navy Seal:worship::worship:

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

Finished 'The Girl who Played With Fire' and enjoyed it, not quite as much as 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' but still it was good. Then I read 'Writing Jane Austen' which I also enjoyed but made me realize I really haven't read any Jane Austen. So next on my list is Pride and Prejudice. I'm going old school!:lmao:

I'm reading one of the True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse books right now, I can't remember the name of it. I also have Boy Meets Girl by Meg Cabot checked out from the library. I just finished Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner--it was really good. I'm looking forward to seeing the responses on this thread.....

I just want to say that if you like the Sookie Stackhouse series; once you're done, Charlaine Harris has another series about Shakespeare, AK that is really good. I just finished the 3rd book and can't wait to start the next one. I started one of her other series too, but decided to stick with one at a time!

I'm on book 8 of the Sookie Stackhouse series and watching True Blood - hard to keep the 2 straight. They have gone in different directions, but have some similarities.

I just finished reading "Ice Cold" by Terri Gerritsen. It is a Rizzoli and Isles novel, I have heard so much about the new tv show (that I haven't seen) I thought I would try one of the books. It was awesome!!! A little creepy but it had an amazing twist at the end. Next I'm going to try her book "The Surgeon" which I think is the first in the series.

I also read Sizziling Sixteen by Janet Evanovich. I love the Stephanie Plum series but this was not her best book. It took me a little while to get into it, which is rare for me with this series.

I completely agree with this - talked to my friend and she said the same thing...

I just finished 6 Killer Bodies by Stephanie Bond (the body movers series) and loved it. Can't wait for 7 & 8 to come out - hopefully soon

I'm on the list for Ice Cold at the library glad to hear it's good. The tv show is pretty good too.

Yes, Sizzling Sixteen just OK -same thing over and over ...

Just started The Spellman Files - fun books. I enjoyed the Body Movers Series too.

I've just discovered Paul Auster and have enjoyed Moon Palace and The Invisible Man. The New York Triology is next on my list.

We read Blindness by Jose Saramago for bookclub. It's about an epidemic of blindness and how it affects the society. It was quite disturbing at times but really thought provoking.

I also liked The Mistress's Daughter by A.M. Homes. It's a memoir about her meeting her birth parents. It was very well done.

I started Promise, Texas by Debbie Macomber this morning. Apparently this is the paperback book novel that put her on the top 15 bestseller list and paved the way for her Cedar Cove series.
