Spring "What are you reading?" Book Thread

Politics aside, I am reading Going Rogue, by Sarah Palin. We are planing a cruise to Alaska which we have researched. So to read about someone who lives in Alaska and talks about places I have researched has kept my interest.

Can someone tell me the author of The Help?

I see so many recommendations for this book, but when I try to do a search on my library website, it pulls up hundreds of hits (anything that has the word "help" in the title, lol). Would be easier if I could search for this book by author, I think.

Thanks!

Two books that instantly come to mind for your DH are Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet and Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind (this is the first in a series - excellent books!)

Thanks! I'll add those to his list :thumbsup2

I forgot to update after last weekend - he ended up getting three books at the library (while I didn't get any - I didn't have my list with me as it was a "surprise" visit - it was bad not having anything to read this week!). He got the first in the Wheel of Time Series, but just started it last night - he thought he'd give the other books (not recommendations - just ones he liked the covers of ;)) a chance first. As I thought, he didn't like either one of the books that he selected (they didn't sound that great to me), got about 50 pages in on each one and threw them back in the return to library pile. However, he's about 30 pages into the Wheel of Time (sorry don't know the title of the first book) and really enjoys it so far.

As for me, three books I've been wanting to read were on hold at the library for me this weekend (well, three fiction books - but the scads of cookbooks I requested awhile ago were finally there too - a bit heavy for the 2 mile walk home :lmao:). I started The Book of Air and Shadows last night and so far it definitely has me hooked. Reminds me of The Thirteenth Tale and The Historian, which I loved (and previously mentioned). The other books I picked up were Sepulchre by Kate Mosse and The Ghost Writer by John Harwood. Those two look pretty good as well, so I'm pretty excited to get to these as well.

Just finished The Kingdom Keepers, loved it:banana::thumbsup2
Just started the Time Travelers wife.
Going to the library tonight to pick up books 2 and 3 of the kingdom keepers.

I recently joined the website Shelfari, any of you guys on there, would love to have some friends on there :surfweb::grouphug:

okay went to the library and went a little overboard:rotfl:
Picked up Kingdom Keepers 2 & 3
The Memory Theif - Rachel Keener
Scary Stuff - Sharon Fiffer
Mennonite in a little black dress - Rhoda Janzen
The girl she used to be - David Cristofano
The knitting Circle - Ann Hood

I will keep you posted on how they are, gonna go start the Kingdom Keepers 2:surfweb:

I finished Brothers by William Goldman. It was okay, could have been more detailed. And it probably would have helped if I had read Marathon Man first.

Next on my list is Honeymoon by James Patterson.

I am actually reading two: Thirst and Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter.
I really like both, one I read a home and one at work.

I just finished reading Honeymoon by James Patterson & Howard Roughan. The story seemed familar, maybe I've read it before. I wonder why he writes with other authors? Maybe to help get them started?

Next in line is Always Dakota the third in the Dakota series by Debbie Macomber. I've sure I'll zip through this one.

I take a more cynical view - Patterson sketches out the plot and the other writer spends the time fleshing out the book.

For the past couple of weeks I've been reading Mr & Mrs Fitzwilliam Darcy: Two Shall Become One by Sharon Lathan. It's pretty good, I've just been really busy and can't seem to find the time to sit down and read. I'm about 2/3rds of the way through. It's quite the steamy book, which was unexpected!

Not sure what's next but we're going to the Outer Banks in 2 weeks so I need to find some good ones!

Laughing at this comment. A book entitled "Two Shall Become One" and you didn't expect it to be steamy? ;)

:lmao: Well, after reading the prim and proper Jane Austen, it's just a little shocking, to say the least. The Darcy's certainly get it on a LOT in this book. :rotfl2:

I've finished Debbie Macomber's Dakota trilogy. Who do I read next, JD Robb or Robert Jordan? Decisions, decisions!

I finished Rapture in Death by JD Robb last night. Good as usual.

Now I've begun the 10th book in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.

I'm reading Fangland by John Marks and The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson.

Fangland is beginning to seem like a bad choice, but The Girl... is a very good read thus far -- Larsson was a terrific writer, it's a shame he is no longer with us.
