I'm just beginning C.S. Forester's The African Queen. It was written in 1932 and in 1951 the film was released starring Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart.
Can someone tell me who is the author of The Help? I tried looking this book up at my library but it wasn't pulling anything by this specific title.
Keep this thread going! I keep WordPad open as I read through the posts.![]()
If it were me, I would have put the book down a long time ago!Page 147 of A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick. Hope it picks up soon.

I've finished Winter's Heart by Robert Jordan. It was as enjoyable as all the rest of the series. After reading the last three books, each all around 800 pages long, I think I will take a little break and read a couple of shorter books. In a couple of weeks I'll pick back up where I left off and get the rest of the series read. I've accumulated about 40 books while reading this series and they keep crying out to me to be read.
They are fantasy, sort of Lord of the Rings type of stuff but easier to read. Even if fantasy is not your type of book, Jordan is a great storyteller!Only book I ever HAD to quit was Tai Pan by James Clavelle. 300 pages in and I said ENOUGH! LOL
White Oleander was a close call as well!
I may have to check out your Jordan books!
