Spring "What are you reading?" Book Thread

I'm just beginning C.S. Forester's The African Queen. It was written in 1932 and in 1951 the film was released starring Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart.

I just finished reading Shutter Island and Witch and Wizard by James Patterson, actually read that one in 3 hours. Both were great.

In the middle of The Last Song right now.

Intense to say the least. But a really good read. Gotta love The Black Dagger Brothers. Feel Me!

I too am a big fan of Diana Gabaldon and Nora Roberts(and JD Robb). I just started the first Sara Donati Book. Just finished Eternal on the Water by Joseph Monninger. I really liked this book, it reminded me of Still Alice(which I also really liked). Also jusst read the Hidden secerets of WDW and Realityworld.

Also keeping up with my daughter's Magic Treehouse books too. I think this summer she is going to start The little house on the Prarie books...I loved these when I was her age.

Looking forward to keeping up with this thread.

Just finished Sarah's Key - wonderful story - and now am reading The Kitchen House which I am enjoying.

In a stack by my bed waiting to be read next are The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Outlander, and Kingdom Keepers 3.

Can someone tell me who is the author of The Help? I tried looking this book up at my library but it wasn't pulling anything by this specific title.

Keep this thread going! I keep WordPad open as I read through the posts. :)

Kathryn Stockett...Run and get it NOW! LOL AWESOME book!

Page 147 of A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick. Hope it picks up soon.
If it were me, I would have put the book down a long time ago!

I've finished Winter's Heart by Robert Jordan. It was as enjoyable as all the rest of the series. After reading the last three books, each all around 800 pages long, I think I will take a little break and read a couple of shorter books. In a couple of weeks I'll pick back up where I left off and get the rest of the series read. I've accumulated about 40 books while reading this series and they keep crying out to me to be read.

Only book I ever HAD to quit was Tai Pan by James Clavelle. 300 pages in and I said ENOUGH! LOL

White Oleander was a close call as well!
I may have to check out your Jordan books!

They are fantasy, sort of Lord of the Rings type of stuff but easier to read. Even if fantasy is not your type of book, Jordan is a great storyteller!

I just finished Strength in What Remains by Tracy Kidder. It was one of the best books I've read in a long time. A true story about a young man who escapes the civil war in Burundi and comes to NY. Really inspiring! It's written in narritive form so it's an easy read.

The newest in the Vampire Academy series, Spirit Bound, by Richelle Mead is being released today and downloaded to my nook today as well!

I finished Summer On Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber today. It was a good quick read, just right for the pool side or beach. I enjoyed reading it and look forward to the next book in the series Hannah' List.

Ohh what a great thread! After not reading much for the past few years I've been really getting back into it. Lately I've read "A Reliable Wife" by Robert Goolrick, which I adored. I also read "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo" I loved that also, I've got "The Girl who Played with Fire" on my must read list. I'm currently reading "Winter in June" by Kathryn Miller Haines. I'm enjoying that also, I found out though that it is the 3rd in a series so I'm going back to read the 1st one "The War Against Miss Winter" and then I'll look for the 2nd one. I also just bought "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford. It looks really good, I'll report back!

I recently picked up A Reliable Wife at a used bookstore and hope to start it very soon. I have Hotel On the Corner of Bitter and Sweet waiting in the wings, too. :goodvibes

I just finished "Winter Garden" and was crying like a baby by the end.....good book!

I finished The Perfect Husband by Lisa Gardner today. Almost to the end, realized that I had already read this book a long time ago. That's okay though, it was as thrilling and hard to put down as the first time.

Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer-VERY eye opening if you eat meat. It is disgusting what these large companies and factory farms are doing. I am only buying from local farms or places like Niman Ranch from now on. No fast food ever again.

Also, Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs and Wear Cows by Melanie Joy PhD

I decided to read more books about what we are eating after seeing Food Inc.

I just finished Sarah Silverman's book Bedwetter. :rolleyes1 And now I have started The Life and Death of Charlie St. Cloud by Ben Sherwood
