Well if you haven't been you dont know what your missing!

I dont like sport of any kind but we bought tickets for the Dodgers v Braves Spring Training baseball game last week and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

The people around us were very friendly and the atmosphere was wonderful, lots of competitions and crowd participation throughout

Still dont know anything about baseball only that if you catch the ball in the stands you keep it - not that there was any chance of me even trying to catch a ball bowled at nearly 100 mph - the team also wear tight lycra pants and have nice butts but I didnt notice that, did I?

Guess what its our anniversary at the end of the month - any guesses what I might get as a pressie?

I just cannot see myself in a pair of tight lycra pants  not with my butt anyway

Still I have to agree with her the baseball was brill. What a great way to spend $35 for 2 tickets for a good 4 hours of fun in the sun, with loads of very friendly people.

Just might encourage me to go back same time next year for another 9 innings! and a good excuse to top up the tan (85 degrees was wonderful)

I am really bothered about those lycra pants you know!

I second that - what a great day out we had a couple of years ago -- well worth the money - anyone with kids great day out.

And I'll third it :teeth: Baseball is one of those events which is just good, honest family fun. The game is largely irrelevant to many, it's just an excuse to hang out in a convivial atmosphere and soak up some friendly American culture. SO different from sport in the UK  Always high on my to-do list, and highly recommended, even for non-sports fans.

With all the online ticket scalpers I mean sellers, which should I choose for getting that special ticket for my special grandson? (without the hubby I might add, bonding time with the g-son)
Thanks, Pat in VA

PS --We're staying at the Caribbean Resort, which field would be best to try to get tickets for. His team...the Yankees, I really didn't want to drive for an hour each way, so I figure he'd be quite happy at any game. Anything else I should consider? Obviously, I want this to be a trip he will always remember, week of March 21st.

Pat - if you don't mind missing the Yankees then the logical thing to do is to catch one of the Atlanta Braves games at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex.

If you're there week of March 21st they have games against St. Louis Cardinals (21st/22nd), Detroit Tigers (25th), Cleveland Indians (26th) and New York Mets (27th). The Indians game is at 7.05pm. The others are all at 1.05pm.

You can buy tickets online via Ticketmaster. There's a link from the Braves website:
