My family and I are going next year. The previous two times we've gone in June. I'm looking for more experienced people's help. Without taking dining, room discounts into consideration, which do you prefer, Sept after Labor day, or Spring, after Spring break but before June?

Fall is much better since you can get both the Food & Wine Festival and Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party. The Halloween Party is the best "special" event that Disney does.

I like both times for different reasons early May before Memorial day it is not as crowded. It's not as hot in May, September it is hot. September the crowd is down and the Halloween party starts. I love the party it's a lot of fun dress up and go trick or treating. It is hot in September and it is during hurricane season.

100% agree for all of the reasons stated above!!

We love to go in May - you have Epcot's Flower & Garden Fest. and it is nice not to have it so hot and crowded. Don't get me wrong... it will be hot. :snooty: Just not drowning in my own sweat and I haven't made it to the park yet hot. :crazy2:

We also like to go in October.... same effect, just a change of season and you can hit up MNSSHP if you would like something above the ordinary.

Either way - have a great trip!!!:thumbsup2

I've been during both times of the year. I prefer September. For my family, it is probably the best time to go. It's still warm enough to hit the water parks, but not so hot and muggy that you can't withstand the heat.

You should consider the dining and discounts though, it changes the price to go considerably.

We feel the same... Just came off a mid May trip... Fantastic, weather to our liking ( hot ) crowds low....

We also enjoy fall, middle September thru October... Same reasons as May....

We want our vacations in hot weather, we spend considerable time at the resort pool ...and these periods seem to have lower crowds, easy touring especially in the am...

May has the least amount of rain :cool1:
totally recommend the month of may

:flower1:plus it is the garden festival in EPCOT :daisy:

Both times are wonderful times to visit WDW! The fall you have the Food and Wine Festival and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! Both are excellent events to attend! MNSSHP is one of my absolute favorite aspects of WDW and I always try to plan a trip around this time of year as it is such an incredible experience! the F&WF is wonderful for adults and people who love trying any and all foods from around the world! In the spring you have Star Wars Weekends which is fun for even non-Star Wars fans and EPCOT's Flower and Garden Festival! The F&GF is so beautiful and lovely to explore and makes World Showcase even more magical! It really is an attraction in itself and there are even special booths open with special treats at this event as well! And SWW is fun for everyone! Hyperspace Hoopla is a super fun stage show and the parade is awesome! Both have their own individual experiences for everyone! :)

Ditto!

i go every early may with 27yo DD, and every late sept-early oct with DH.
may has the better weather: a bit cooler (mostly high 70-80's), little to no rain. crowds are significantly lower. i enjoy the F&GF, but it doesn't have the excitement of the F&WF - this year, some food booths (as during F&WF) were added to WS.
sept-oct has a daily 4pm rainshower, and a higher likelihood of torrential, all day rain. crowds are definitely higher (especially in EPCOT during the F&WF - sept 27th is 2013 opening day). imho, october has more to do, and a higher level of excitement (sept is quieter).

both festivals have live concerts and events on weekends.

overall, early may is my hands down favorite time of year because of the gorgeous weather, relaxed atmosphere, concerts, and low crowds; early oct is second for the different events, meeting up with friends, decent weather, etc.

We will be taking my mother in-law who is older. She needs a scooter and I like the idea of fewer crowds so she can mange it. And since she is limited on the rides she can get on, the flowers will be a perfect distraction.

Thanks again folks for the pros and cons of both.
