Hi everyone,

I was wondering about the spring Love Bug Season at WDW. Everything I have read on the Interent says it is late April and May, However I have only seen them in May at WDW. We are planning a trip the last week in April 2009 and I want to know from people who usually travel during this time if they have ever seen Love Bugs. We went the first week of May last year and did not see any.

We went around May 19th last year and the love bugs were all over. Very annoying at the pool. I always go during April and May and this was the worse I have ever seen them.:yay:

Love bugs here in Central Florida are early-to-mid May until early June, and early-to-mid Sept until early Oct. They don't bite, but they are still disgusting. Bug repellents don't work on them.
They are typically worst mid morning and mid afternoon. :headache:
note - they're not at at ocean so Vero is a good choice for those times. :)

We saw way more in October last year than I expected.

In 2007 we were there the last few days of April and first week of May and they gradually increased throughout the vacation.

Two additional comments.

1. While the love bugs don't bite, their bodies are acidic and can damage automobile paint. Mid-morning to late afternoon they can cause quite a visual problem on your windshield.

2. Vero has Noseeums, which are a nasty little sand flea. They are more painful than a mosquito. They are very small (hence the nickname) and can pass through most screening.

Thanks for the info. I have seen Lovebugs in september before I had kids. They do not bother me, but my 4 year old freaks out if she sees any type of bug. I think Love Bug Season would send her to the moon.

We have experienced them in September twice, they were gross the first day but you get used to them. They don't bite or anything. I HATE bugs so I was super nervous about them and it really wasn't much of an issue. Other than like the other poster mentioned they were all over the car and we were advised to wash the car ASAP. :thumbsup2

We saw a few in Sept/October, but just a few. They aren't noisy and they don't bite, but you can find them just about anywhere.

Music to my ears!! I was just wondering that! Ahhh...can't wait for Vero!:cool2:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I have seen them at the coast/beach. DH and I stayed on the coast near Melbourne in early June last year (or it may have been the year before, memory is fading fast- LOL) and they were thick, we also visited Vero beach the same week and they were there too. :sad2: Sorry. Don't care for them either.
