Spring Direct Incentives 2/9-4/27

Same. I considered the current SSR sale just to get the blue card. But after running the numbers I just cant justify the $60 premium ($150 direct vs $90 resale).

I do the exact same calculation, but I think I put more weight in the percent difference.

In the case of SSR $150 vs. $90 is 67% more.
In the case of PVB $210 vs. $150 is 33% more.
In the case of VGC $330 v s$270 is only 22% more.

60 points difference in all cases, but I'd be more likely to buy direct at the higher priced resorts. Maybe that's the wrong way to look at it.... if you live long enough they all end up at zero anyway :)

That wasn't my point. I deal with this on the cash side and I can tell you that there have indeed been specials for the Disney Visa or other promotion that I heard from clients before I officially got the email that morning.

Things can and do make it out to consumers sooner.

It was clarified that when the person called back that the guide didn’t realize the person had the Disney Visa so it obviously was there.

I was simply trying to give a different perspective from someone who has been in that exact same position.
I can see your point however I think this is slightly different in the fact that you don't work directly for Disney where the guides do work under a branch of Disney so they should have received the information.

Ultimately it sounds like the guides were given the information but just weren't ready to volunteer that information to folks they already set to receive a commission check from the contract sold.
I'm sure if it was a new person that nothing was set yet they would inquire about whether the card was held in the household to offer the extra discount.

Thanks to this board we just saved an extra $650. We were in the process of buying 150 points at poly with the military discount. D23 did not stack so our numbers were 235-15 (military) - 9 (developer credit) = 211 X 150 = 31,650 less magical beginnings $3,000 = 28,650.

When the new incentives came out, I checked and thought well they got worse so we went ahead.

Then I checked these boards and saw @ClaraOswald post about the visa credit. As others have said I did not get an email from chase about this so THANK YOU.

Reached out to our guide and they are rewriting the contract, our new numbers are 243-15-8=220 X 150 = 33,000 - 1,000 anniversary credit- 1,000 visa credit - MB 3,000 = 28,000.

I don’t post often but I do read a lot and enjoy everyone’s insights and strategies and obviously saving money.

We can move on as I simply do not ascribe that the guide was trying to keep it secret in some nefarious way.

The morning of new incentives and a new way of sending out quotes, with guides not always getting the information ahead of time, I’m willing to give them benefit of the doubt.

A Guide's job is to sell timeshare points. Their job is not to give you the best price on those timeshare points. If you are ready to sign based on what they've told you so far, they are not going to go out of their way to change something.

We might not like that, and we might prefer it were different. But that's the deal.

If any guides are reading this thread, just know those that treat buyers better by letting them know of the all the incentives will get repeat customers and will get referrals. I will not be using this guide again and if it was possible to change now, I would. I'll go more in depth about the full conversation once this revised paperwork is presented to me and I sign.

Certainly entitled to your opinion, but the facts are that the guide did not volunteer this information and did not inquire if said customer had a Disney Visa once the discount was available. Whether you deem this particular action as nefarious is up to your interupation but it was certainly kept secret from the member in this case.

This whole issue has to do with whether the guides had actually received the information in the first place as you suggested they had might not have in which case I had questioned management and their ability to communicate in house when notification was sent from an outside source of the offer to the public.

I agree we can move on

Sure.

But it's also the case that the vast (vast!) majority of buyers do not know what they do not know, and are thrilled with their purchase even if they did not get every last $500 discount they could have.

I know some of you really like your guides (heck mine is pretty cool) but we are not friends. He is selling a product that he gets commission on and I am buying it. That's it and I don't fault him for not giving up every single discount especially if I've already said yes.

Back to the topic, I like using my direct SSR to book new resorts so I don't regret buying it back in 2024. Heck if I had the extra cash I would tack on a few more points this round.
