Spring break?! What are we thinking?

I’m sorry if this has been posted before, I am curious as to what people think spring break would be like this year? Specifically the week of Easter. Obviously normal circumstances would see that it’s packed, but with lower capacity and shorter hours I’m curious what we are thinking it’s going to be like. Clearly there will be less people but there’s no fast passes.

I was just at Disney the first week of December and it was great totally manageable we rode everything we wanted even more than once despite super long lines everything moved fast and the longest we waited was maybe 45 minutes 1 time. I wanted to see the opinions of people that were there the week of Christmas which of course is typically the busiest week of the year as well and how manageable it was without fast passes but being at capacity for right now? Thanks!!

Basically is spring break this year with how the parks are running a bad idea? What I don’t want is us to go and it feel extremely overcrowded and wait 40 minutes plus for everything! I went with my best friend in Dec. This trip would be with my family! Kids 12 & 8

We went Christmas week and also have a spring break trip planned. We never go those weeks due to crowds but figured this was the year to do it!

We found Christmas week to be very manageable. We stuck with our typical touring plan: rope drop, afternoon break and some days back to the park in the evening. Wait times for headliners were an hour+ in the afternoons.

While crowds most likely will be higher than other weeks, its unlikely that it will be close to a normal Spring Break crowd.
If you were to go over Spring Break this is probably the year to do it.
Still a lot of unknowns. Where will park capacity be, will FPs return, what will park hours be, what level of staffing will they have, what attractions will still be closed? All these things have a huge impact on how crowded the park feels.

I guess what I love about spring break is the weather. Crowds are heavy, but the weather is so nice. And there is a lot to be said about glorious weather.

A good chunk of Spring Break crowds are international visitors. Since so many countries still have closed borders, I'd imagine the crowds will be much lighter than usual...

and now the US requires the testing and I thought I saw quarantine as well.

That’s what I was thinking that hopefully would be manageable with the masks and not too hot. I would consider going right after my kids get out of school the first week of June but I’m not sure we can handle the masks in 90° weather

There’s so many unknowns. It’s hard to gauge. I saw festival of lion king is starting again in summer. And I wonder though if that will be the trend of more stuff opening, if they will wait till the summer.

We're trying June this year, I think--never done summer before, but it's just what schedules allow! I know, we're insane :)

Summer was one and done for me (mid June when DH had a seminar at the Contemporary), but I am a heat/humidity weenie for sure. I ended up just doing one theme park on that trip and switched over to the beach (did a day trip to Clearwater) and water parks for all the other days lol. Fortunately I had not bought theme park tickets in advance, so we could do what we wanted to do which was be in water all the time. I'd highly recommend those spray mist fans. I use those for tennis in the summer and they really help to cool you off.

We are going for Spring Break, Mar 7-13. Got back home yesterday from a WDW trip and the crowds were low.

Thinking of going the same week, we have been once for Spring Break March when a lot of Southern schools and Orlando area had the same week off. It was crowded but nothing crazy. This year our break is Easter and I know usually that’s the second most popular time aside from Christmas. I think the weather is a big factor. I can handle crowds and pleasant weather. We have gone over July 4, and my patience is shorter when I’m sweating out my eyeballs

What dates are considered Spring break?

It depends. However, the week before Easter weekend and sometimes the week after, can be very busy. Also, most of Texas has spring break the 2nd or 3rd week of March. We always see people we know, that we didn't know were going to Orlando, during our Spring Break trips.

This! I’ve been in June (bleh humidity and rain all day) and January (bleh too cold, had to bundle up, WTH), March into April the weather is perfect. It rained only once the entire week for 20 min and blue skies and 80 the rest.

I'm in the same boat. We orig were booked for April which we later found out is when they are having a marathon but still no word if it is even happening but then my daughter wanted to go. Ironically her college is off the week BEFORE Easter week but her work (she works in a school) has the actual Easter week (week of Easter ending on Easter Sunday). It is easier for her to miss college since it is online this year anyway and she can take it with her so we are going for actual Easter week although it sounds like the week before might be hectic too since other schools may take that week. I hate to go on holiday weeks but it is the only way we could do it. I hope it is not too crazy since we only get to go every 5 or so years and we are from CA so no Disneyland anytime soon :/

It was a HALF marathon (they only have a marathon on property once per year - the other race weekends all have a longest distance of a Half marathon), and the weekend went virtual a few months ago, so you don't have to worry about that. Sure some people may still go to the parks, but capacity limits are still in place.

We are going during spring break this year, although it will be in Mid March. There is a thread somewhere on here asking “when is your/your child’s spring break” and overwhelming, the answer has been “spring break has been cancelled/shortened in our district.” I‘m sure that I am just being optimistic, but I don’t think spring break is going to be to crazy this year. That being said, the week of Easter will probably be busy (weekends especially) but still manageable.

FWIW, my daughter's college cancelled spring break this year. Doubtful that this is the only college cancelling -- lots of schools have changed their typical academic calendars this year.
