Spring Break in So. California

We are travelling to DL w/friends and trying to decide when to go. For whatever reason I assumed my kids were out of school the week of Easter. When I looked at the calendar again, I realized they are out 4/04-4/08.

Does anyone know if the local schools are in session that week or not? I'd love to go but will wait if the parks will be ultra-crowded. I'm also hoping that more people will be planning on going after 5/05 which could also improve the crowd situation in April.

It seems to me (who doesn't have any school-age kids) that most schools either have the week before or the week after Easter Sunday off for spring break. The park is pretty crowded during these weeks. I think one of the most crowded days I've been to DL (other than the obvious holidays) was on the Wednesday before Easter a few years ago. I tend to avoid the parks during this time of year.

If I had to guess, I'd say that more people have the week before as spring break than the week after, but I would think that the parks will stil be pretty crowded during this time of year. Probably similar to a normal summer weekend.

My DS's Spring Break is also during this time.

My local district takes 2 weeks off--March 19-April 3.

We ususally revolve around Easter as well, but in 2005 my DD has April 11-15 off. We are in Capistrano Unified - about 30 miles from Disneyland.

was just at my girlfriend's house and checked out her spring break schedule...it's april 4-8th....so as you can see different school district has different times off. disneyland's "so cal annual passholder's blockout dates" are usually right-on in terms of coinciding with most school's holidays. but as i mentioned before from a post a couple of weeks ago, there are many southern california elementary school that are year-round schedule.

Thanks for your replies...I knew it was a long shot to even think about trying to avoid crowds in April. I think we'll just stick with our original plans of October or early December.

We're in Santa Clarita...and the kids are off April 5th through the 16th.

October is one of my favorite times to go. It's still warm, but not ridiculously hot, like in the summer. The days are still pretty long, especially early in the month, and the parks aren't as crowded. Of course, at that point, there's likely something closed for rehab, but I think it's a fair trade, since it allows you to do the parks at a more lesuirely pace.

April 4 through 8 as well. We are in Redlands/near San Bernardino. Not sure what the SB schools dates are.
