Alright we have gone to Disneyland the last three years.
Once in October, and twice in June.

I have some big things happening at work in the summertime taking up alot of my month of June.

So the question is....how busy and how many things will be down during the week leading up to Easter in 2010? When will World of Color open? Will Remember Dreams Come True really be showing next year?

Should I wait until late summer?

I can only comment on Easter week......we went in 2007 the week prior to Easter & Easter day.....the parks are super busy (since Spring Breaks will also be going). There were a few rides down for refurb but the biggest issue was the crowds........with a 2 yr old with us, we needed a FP for the bathrooms!! :lmao:

One strategy that would have been fairly successful this whole year as far as avoiding crowds would be to visit whenever the most Annual Passes are blocked out (preferably up to Deluxe). I THINK the blockout days around Easter 2009 (and I KNOW July 4th and Thanksgiving) were less crowded than the days around them because so many Annual Passes were blocked out. There are lots of reports of June being a madhouse (because of the relatively minor changes to Fantasmic), but the days in summer where the APs were blocked suddenly being much more pleasant. The explanation I've heard for this phenomenon is that 70% or so of the people who visit Disneyland are locals, and in this economy (and with incentives from Disney), they are more likely to buy Annual Passes and visit several/many times a year, versus going farther away for vacation.

So if the economy picks up, and with the end of the free admission on your birthday promotion, AP blockout dates might stop being such a perfect time to go. At all times, the times after something new opens (i.e. World of Color) will be crazy-busy. Right now, the times around blockout dates are also usually very busy, while the blockout dates themselves tend to be pleasant. (That may not hold true around Christmas, however--most people are predicting not, but I guess we'll see how 2009 goes in a few weeks. :) )

Have a great trip, whenever you go. :)

World of Color: end of April

RDCT: yes, it's on the schedule starting in January.

After watching the Guy F. Food network show last night we've decided to go at Christmas time next year.

It's a beautiful time to go!

This year, the week BEFORE Thanksgiving was a great time to go (I'm pretty sure all the Christmas stuff was out), and the weekend of Thanksgiving (Thursday - Sunday) appears to have been good too. I'm pretty sure the "light crowds the week before" pattern will hold true in 2010, but I wouldn't bet on the "Thanksgiving Day through Sunday being pleasant" to occur in 2010.

I am HOPING the second week of December is also a great time to go, as that's when I'm going this year, but wouldn't bet on it. :)

(Traditionally the first two weeks of December have had low crowds, but I'm not sure that has been playing out this year. Someone who went in the first week of December commented about the crowds being the worst he/she had seen that time of year, but that doesn't necessarily mean they were terrible, either, I don't think. Again, 2010 might be different.)

Like I said, the week of and after Christmas is pretty much always a zoo. I'm not CERTAIN that's going to hold true this year (but as I said, pretty much everyone else says it will and I think it's pretty likely).

Regardless of what happens this year, I DO think that period around and after Christmas will be super-crowded in 2010, so I'd avoid it if possible.
