Have always flown to Disney in the past but drove last spring break (95 route)and I'm hooked! Thank you all for your suggestions and expertise. Driving again this spring break leaving Friday 3/22 after work at 5:00 (I know may not be the best time but too anxious to wait!). Having the 95/western route battle with husband. I think I may have him convinced to try the western route due to so much construction on 95. Any suggestions where to stop for the night (hoping to put in around 7 hours of drive time) or which route to minimize traffic?

Let's see.
Fri 5pm day before most schools in NY are off for the next week...
You don't say where in NY you are coming from. If from LI you are looking at over an hour just to get to NJ. 7 hours might get you to DEL/MD if taking I95.

If you go western probably 5 hours to Harrisburg, and hour to the PA/WV border. In 7 hours you should be somewhere in Northern VA.

Here is a different suggestion if you can do it. Instead of leave at 5pm, try to sleep/nap and leave some time overnight between 11pm - 2am.

We have driven twice and can get to Georgia leave before midnight... Once stopped in Brunswick and once Savannah. This gives you a 4 or 5 hour drive to get to Disney.
