We are just back. We have been there over spring break for a number of years, and this year, we wanted to try a few new places along with some old favorites--here's where we ate and what we thought:

Shutters @ CBR--We ate here our first night (staying at CBR) and it was okay. The bread with a trio of dips is good; the french toast bread pudding with coconut ice cream is really good. Otherwise, just okay, service kind of slow.

Sci-fi Theatre--Go for the atmosphere--campy and relaxing. We had a great server--Joyce--and the milkshakes are good. The food is okay--we all had burgers and my DS 9 had a 'Lilo' (basically a Sprite with a glowing ice cube). We hadn't been to Sci Fi for a couple of years, and it was fun to go back.

Teppanyaki--Has been a 'must' for us the past several years, especially for my DS 13. He and my DH split the chicken and my DH got sushi, which he loved. My DS 9, who thinks the major food groups are chicken nuggets, cheese, chocolate and bread, had white rice and was happy. I had the vegetables with noodles. Our chef was good and flipped shrimp tails at the kids and made a lot of jokes about his boss, 'Mickey-san.' Good as usual--try the frozen drinks--the Momo is great.

Donald's Breakfastasaurus @AK--Our kids think they are 'too old' for character meals, but it was raining a little, so we decided to head here for a break. It was okay--the food was typical buffet fare, but they were expecting a party of 200, so the service was harried. IMHO, not worth the $70. When our kids were younger, we loved it here. Next time, we'll probably do counter service or grab bagels or something.

House of Blues--We really liked this meal. The vodoo shrimp was awesome, and my DS 9 liked his pizza. Service was a little slow, but it was a good meal overall.

Le Cellier--Had to have the cheese soup, as always, and loved the pretzel bread. DS 13 loved his steak burger (it is served on an English muffin with canadian bacon and blue cheese). DH had the shrimp roll, and said it was okay. (Side note: DH had a sinus infection and couldn't always taste everything he ate, so a lot of things were rated just okay by him).

Tommorowland Noddle Station--My DH and I were really looking foward to this--but it didn't really live up to our expectations. DH had shrimp pad thai and I had the tofu noodle bowl. It was okay--can't really say why we didn't like it better. The portions were huge, though. Both DS's had burgers at Pecos Bills after we ate at the noodle place.

Le Chefs de France--A first this year. It was pretty good--service was really good. Both DH and DS 13 had the set lunch entree--sandwich, salad and creme brulee. I had the macaroni and cheese and DS9 had chicken tenders. It was good, not as good as we expected, but nice atmosphere.

Nine Dragons--Another first, and we really liked it. Heard lots of negative things, but wanted to try it anyway. DS 13 and DH absolutely loved the honey sesame chicken. Spring rolls and fried rice were also good, and DS9 once again made a meal out of white rice. We would definitely go back.

Portobello Yacht Club--Another first. We have a friend who had been urging us to try this, so we did and weren't disappointed. DH had shrimp and pasta and said it was his best meal of the trip. DS 13 had chicken alfredo and DS9 had buttered noodles. I had pasta with vegetables and it was all very good. We also liked the roasted garlic they serve with the bread. Our server was more interested in a table of young women than in bringing the check or dessert, but we still enjoyed this meal.

Wolfgang Puck Cafe'--Though we were looking forward to this, it wasn't one of our better meals. We have been to this restaurant in Chicago, and didn't really like it there, either. I had the butternut squash soup and Cobb salad, both okay. DH had sushi, which he liked, and the Asian ribs, which he thought were okay, but not great. DS 13 had a chicken pizza, but didn't love it; and I forget what DS 9 had, but it was most likely chicken nuggets. We ate outside and it seemed a little dirty.

Columbia Harbor House--I love this place. My husband thinks I am crazy, but it is one of my favorite places to eat at MK. I really like the Lighthouse sandwich with hummus and broccoli slaw. No one else in my family shares my enthusiasm. I forget what they ate here because I was so in to my sandwich.

Kona Cafe--Good as usual. We like this place and had dinner here before we headed to MK for EMH. We didn't have a PS, but got right in. The vegetable noodle bowl in the wonton shell was really good.

Cafe Tu Tu Tango--We usually don't venture off Disney property to eat, but had heard good things about this place. It was great. If you go, make sure to get the Pears on pecan crisps. They were amazing! Tapas-style, so you can try lots of things. It was fun and good.

Prime Time Cafe--We ate here before leaving and it was okay. The stuffed green pepper was pretty good; DH had chicken pot pie and said it was good. DS 13 had the fried chicken and cleaned his plate and DS 9 had chicken nuggets. We all shared the s'mores. Our server was pretty mellow, but that was okay, since it matched our mood.

We also ate a lot of egg rolls and samosas from the egg roll cart in Adventureland at MK and citrus swirls--my favorite snacks in all the world. Sorry this is so long--hope it was helpful to someone.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. We ate at a lot of restaurants on our recent trip, and I found it funny how little our 'dining' experiences intersected. Thanks again! I enjoyed reading your reviews.

I always enjoy reading restuarant reviews. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the great reviews! (I am another Columbia Harbour House lover--that place is great.)

What did you eat here? We want to leave EPCOT and eat there, since there are very few restaurants at EPCOT on the MYW dining plan that appealed to us.

Thanks for the great reviews. :)

Cafe Tu Tu Tango is on International Drive. I forget the address, but it's right in the middle of everything and next to Pirate's Cove mini-golf.

At Shutters, I had the trio of dips (red pepper hummus, curried vegetable spread and roasted garlic) with bread--all were very good, and the papaya garden salad, which was okay as salads go. It was very fresh, with a sweet dressing.

DH had spicy island wings, which he liked, and the corn and crab soup, which he said was pretty good. DS 13 had kids prime rib and mashed potatoes and DS 9 had chicken nuggets. It was a good meal, and there were some other interesting items on the menu that we thought we might try if we ate there again, but the timing didn't work out.

Thanks for the reviews. I understand how you feel about the lighthouse sandwich at CHH - I can't wait to have one (or two!) next month! :)

Funny - I have had lunch at Columbia Harbor House everytime I've been to MK. I like to sit upstairs (which is usually empty) and sit next to a window and people watch. I always used to get there clam chowder in a bread bowl. Not sure if they offer that any longer.

I'm going to try a new place for lunch next visit. I need to expand my dining experiences :rotfl: . Maybe I'll even try Pinocchio's Village Haus - which I haven't been to since my first visit in 1971.

Thanks for the review. You've been to many of our favorites too. :flower:

Wonderful reviews, Kizzy! :wave2: So many restaurants, so little time, eh? I was glad to see that you gave one of the more unpopular places a try . . . and liked it. Just goes to show that it's smart to try something at least once if it interests you. You just might be pleasantly surprised. Right?

Enjoyed the reviews.
Re: Portobello.
We had a server like that once at Fultons--virtually ignoring us, he was actually on his knees at a table with two very pretty girls, answering questions about wine. They worked him over a bit with questions like "Is red better than white" "are there any other colors", etc --and then ordered iced tea!!
