We are dragging our popup from Syracuse to the Fort Apr 16 - 23. Am I going to regret it? Is it going to be too crowded at the campground? What is the weather like in the middle of April? :earseek:

We were there last week for our "spring break" and it was crowded! Hopefully, everyone else has already had their spring breaks and you are not as crowded as we were. The weather was nice. We wore shorts during the day, but I still thought it was cold at night, jeans and a sweatshirt. I am cold natured and from the south so anything below 70 is cold to me. Have a safe trip and a great time!

PS I am now sporting a great "farmers tan" because it was in the 80's during the day.

Someone recently posted a link to a website in which they rated what they thought the crowds would be like for every day in 2005. For example, Christmas and Easter vacations were 8's, 9's and 10's (very crowded). Mid September days rated 1's and 2's (not crowded at all).

September 16 to 22 rated 4's. I'll take it. :cool1:

BTW Johnniecuse, forecast for the 16th is high 82 with 0 percent chance of rain.

We are also traveling from Auburn, NY to FT Wilderness on spring break.(first time) :sunny: Maybe we will see you down there. Do you have a planned stop on the way? We are planning to leave on 4/13 in the evening and taking our time getting down there.

Peak season ends on April 16, and regular rates start again on April 17. So, the crowds must die down at that time for disney to drop rates. What date are you checking into FW? Your rate for 4/16, is higher than the rest of the trip dates so if you are arriving on 4/16, you need to try and get one ressie for that night and a new ressie for 4/17-4/23 at the regular season rate to save $$. IF, it is worth it to you. With two ressies, you MAY have to change sites, but they try to make it so you don't have to.

We'll be down from 22 April to 30 April. A couple of days ago I checked on site availability for this time just to see how crowded it might be - there were sites available at all levels, including preferred. I think we'll be okay.

:moped:

We are going to be at FW on the 16th April - 22nd towing our pop up to Florida for first time. How do I check what sites are available. We went through a travel agent and requested to be near the pool and in the 1400 loop. What are our chances of our request being granted? :earsgirl:

Hi GaryAmy. We'll probably see you down there, because we requested the 1400 loop too!

Here is our itinerary:

Leave early Thursday 4/14. Drive to Selma, NC. I think we are going to go ahead and book a room at the Days Inn in Selma. The AAA rate is $43.20 plus tax. They have an outdoor pool (which will be good for two boys who have been sitting 12 hours in the truck) and I believe a free b'fast. I called and they said no problem parking the rig there.

Leave Selma early on Friday 4/15. According to mapquest, it's 600 miles from there.

My FIL, who makes the trip every year, recommended that we take the bypasses around Richmond and Jacksonville. He also suggested taking the new toll road (417?) around Orlando. He said it's not cheap, but it's totally worth it as the highway ends right in Disney World. :)

Actually we are leaving Wed evening. We have family in the Orlando area so we can stop and visit them. How old are your boys ours are 7 and 9 we also have a 5 year old daughter and bringing a 15 year old neighbor for a extra set of eyes. We are not sure if we are stopping or driving straight through .We are just playing it by ear. See you in the sunshine state :sunny:

9 and 11. :) We are meeting up with friends that have two boys, 2 and 6.

Have a safe trip. The weather report for next Saturday and Sunday is looking great. 82 and sunny. :cool1:

We were down there for spring break 3 years ago. Never again!

The parks were crowded, the MK closed on at least one day. I didn't feel crowded at FW though.

Traffic on I-95 was nerve racking too. 65mph one minute then 15mph the next! :scared1: Not fun when you are pulling a camper. We took an alternate route a friend recommended, take I-10 west out of Jacksonville, to highway 301. At Ocala, take Highway 27 over to I-75 to the Florida Turnpike to Orlando. It may be a little longer but we didn't get stopped in traffic jams....it's easier on the nerves too!

I know there are two different spring break time periods.

The southern schools usually have their spring break in March or around Easter.

The northeast schools usually have a winter break in February, and their spring break is in mid to late April. I don't think this break is as busy as the Easter break. :)

We are leaving Turs 14th in the evening. We have to go to Atlanta first to pick up the oldest daughters boyfriend(aren't I a Good Dad?!?!?).:rotfl: Then it is 8-ish hours to Disney :sunny: . We will have a sign in front of our popup (The Whylands-Syraacuse, NY). Stop in and say hi!!! :earsboy:

What route are you going to drive? We are going to take 81 to 83 in Harrisburg to 95 in Baltimore. Do you have any suggestions?

Stay away from the Beltway in DC it's usually a parking lot!!! :confused3

We leave around noon on Thurs the 14th. The plan is to take Route 81 all the way to Route 77 in Virginia to Route 85 in Charlotte then all the way to Atlanta. We have a hotel for the night in Morrow, GA(Fri). Sat Morning 5am, pickup the daughters boyfriend. Then on to WDW!!! Should be there around NOON.

We don't know where we are going to be in the campground. We've been to WDW 15 times or so, but this is our first time camping at Disney, should be fun. :cool1:
