Spring Break 2011 on the DREAM

Well, here are my worst fears. i was in a car accident in December and got pretty banged up. I was sent to a Doctor in Duluth yesterday and he is /strongly encouraging me to have wound surgery next week! It means an overnight in hospital 5-7 days in a tight splint and then who knows!! I am so upset there is a possibility i might lose going on the cruise. The family will go but I may be left behind! We can't cancel because I was too cheap to get the insurance and also we are in two concierge rooms!!!

IF, (God willing) I DO get there - I am the Grandma on a motorized scooter! (temporary I hope). Say hi if you see me, if not, please say a prayer. I am just heartsick over this. Our trip includes Vero Beach, cruise and 3 days at the AKL. All paid for and a big treat for our children and grands. I just pray i will make it and all is well.

ok i got this off my shoulder, will keep you updated. The FE gifts are finished and will be sent with family members - at least I did them early!!

I am so sorry you are going through such a challenging time. I too will think positively that you will be able to come on the cruise with your family!! I look forward to seeing you on your scooter, you will have the biggest smile on your face!!

Have a great week everyone!! I am getting giddy from thinking about the next couple of weeks, getting excited to pack, yes I actually said that!!:woohoo:

Wow ppiew that so stinks. Prayers for your surgery and speedy recovery. What better place to repair and restrenghten than on a cruise. We WILL see you there. Think positive and happy thoughts.

Count our gang in on the cruise meet. There are 8 of us! We are all bursting at the seams to get this vacation started!!

PPIEW, we're pulling for you to recover well- and have an awesome Dr who understands that relaxation on a cruise is the fastest road to recovery! We will be looking for you on your scooter. Take care.

I hope everything goes well and that we are all following your scooter in a conga line at our 39 and holding party. :thumbsup2

I'm also getting excited, but also a bit stressed from all the work I have to do on the FE gifts and packing.

So excited for the 39 and counting meet. That will be my actual 39 and counting birthday, so it's perfect.

Busy trying to get my FE's done and I'm getting a little overwhelmed. Started making them awhile ago, and finished buying the supplies to make enough of the rest.

However, seeing how many people are on the list is getting me nervous about sorting them all by person. Can we just put them all in one bag or package for each stateroom, and then then the people in that family divvy them up on their own? I thought it might be easier to sort and pack them that way for me. Also, I never even thought about labels or something to say who they're from. What do people usually do for that? Or can my girls and I just deliver our special gifts anonymously? They are super excited to do it,and have had fun helping me make them.

A few of my items say they are from my family, but I also included a small slip of paper (2"x3") in each bag saying they're from us.

I printed labels for each bag (one bag for adults and a separate bag for each kid)...

So far I have all the adult gift bags done and I have my card table in my family room all loaded up and organized with the kids stuff and need to bag them-should be done tomorrow.

I am thinking of boxing all them and shipping them ahead, but if I do that I might over-pack and not have space to bring the gifts we get back home... :rotfl:

we have delivered anonymously in the past and some people haven't. doesn't seem to make much difference at all. I have also seen plastic bags with the room # on them and all gifts inside and the bag put into the FE. (Also saw them hung on the stateroom door)

I put labels on all the kids bags and included the name and room number. The adult gift are all the same so I did not need to label them. I am sorting the gifts by deck number (thanks esbrick for the spreadsheet) and putting them in larger ziplock bags. I already told the family we are spreading these out between all the suitcases so we don't go over the weight limit;)

I have been on the phone with Shirley regarding a surprise gift bag for the family. I am just waiting on her return phone call to finish up:cool1:

The weather here has been so rainy and windy I can hardly wait to get to Florida. We have a big week ahead with St. Patrick's Day shows (dd is an irish dancer) and then I will start packing:banana:

Looking forward to meeting you all real soon:yay:

My 'adult' bags are all pretty much the same with the exception of one item which I created one for each person in the room, so some had 1, others had 3, so I didn't want to short anyone...

We have a big week ahead with St. Patrick's Day shows (dd is an irish dancer).

We are heading off to a dance competition today that includes some Irish dancing! Does your daughter compete or is she part of a performance group? Both my son and daughter dance (although they do ballet and contemporary- not Irish style). The kids love it when they get to see Irish dancing!

My daughter is a competitive Irish Dancer who is at champion level. She also performs at shows, especially at this time of the year:)

She has only competed at Irish only competitions, but her show team is actually working on competing at an all dance type of competition later this year. We love watching all the other styles of dance compete. It is quite different than an irish competition.

Hi fe group!
I know the cruise is fully booked. So there may be no cabin changes/upgrades. But what do you think about leaving a note at Eilis cabin door if your cabin number changed? E.g. until 6 p.m. at the first cruise day so everybody from our fe group could check for changes.
Many greetings!

I just finished bagging up all my FE gifts, plus sorting them by decks, then stood back amazed how much I did...I got DD8 on the scale with them and they totalled it at 24 pounds. :lmao:

Dream_2011 - unless you already signed up for the FE, I think it is too late - I know I am already done making all my FE gifts, and I assume others are too. Plus for some of the things I made, I don't have any extras.

The last sign-up date was a few weeks ago...

You are way ahead of me. I finished the ones for my second part of the back to back, but this part has way more people in the FE exchange. I had to rethink my original plan. I will probably spend my Friday off next week half getting ready for DD's 5th birthday party and the other half doing stuff for the cruise, like the FE gifts and laundry.

Um, yep, way behind here as well!:goodvibes The good thing is that Meg will be able to put everything together on our drive down. . . At least that's what I'm hopin!

Wow, you have me intrigued... any hints on what would weigh 24 pounds? I am getting so excited to see what everyone has done!

I finished up all of my FE stuff over the weekend, and I have also organized by deck and divided them up so it will be easy to grab a bag and head for whatever deck is in that bag. Hopefully planning ahead will make it painless once we get on the ship.

I can't believe we are less than 2 weeks away. Work has been challenging lately, so I am keeping my eyes on the prize, a whole week of pampering on the Dream (we are doing a back to back, so looking forward to it).

Have a great week everyone!!
