spring 2009

well, i have been lurking here for a couple of days now, and been reading. I just got done with my interview a minute ago. I think I did okay...

My interview was at 1:45pm and they called at 1:39pm.. My interviewer was christine and she was very nice and pleasant :)... She was telling me about how it's raining there now and the phones might go out. She was really quick with all of the stuff asking about the basic stuff on the application and what program I wanted (spring advantage, or spring), She first asked me "That why I think this is a good point, to do this program?", then "How will I cope with living on my own with out my parents, and such?", and "How i will cope with the balance of living, work, education and everything?"... After answering those questions, We got to the roles My top choices were Merchandising, Attractions, and Hospitality... I got the space mountain question, the if an item was out of stock question, and if a room if the guest requested wasn't available question(I was a little more nervous on this one)... and then if I had any questions... then she told me how to fax in stuff and wait for an email of where i should send in my application... then she said after that it will be a 4-6 week wait.... and the whole process was about 20 minutes...

i am happy it's over with... when the phone rang i jumped like 2 feet in the air... I was so nervous haha

I feel like everyone is getting asked the "If a room is not available question"...I got a whole senario of things for my Hospitality question involving an upset man on a rainy day who waited in line for two hours with his family. lol.

And that ring on the phone when you know it's the interview has heart-attack-inducing abilities! haha. When it rang I stared at my phone for a good three rings before I unfroze and was able to answer haha.

Glad it went well!!!! (I know how nervous you were, so I'm glad you got it out of the way) :)

I have a question did anybody email it instead of faxing it? lol The fax machine never works for me for some reason....

I just heard back from recruiter today and it turns out that they did make a mistake with my acceptance letter! I was supposed to be cast for Hospitality but instead they put me in Housekeeping so they changed it and are mailing me a new letter today! I am so happy and excited, you don't even know! I would still have done the program no matter what but now I know that I will enjoy it even more!!!

Thanks, and likewise. It's strange that I can't get a hold of her. It just keeps going to voicemail so her phone isn't even on :scared:

So I called them yesterday, and they told me that it wasn't a problem, and he just fixed it over the phone. I didn't even talk to my recruiter, just the general recruiter. He just said that it shows that I'm interested in the position, and not that I have to audition for anything. He also Said that it wasn't something that I needed to worry about at all. in fact he said that they mailed out a packet for me on Friday which means I should be getting it today or tomorrow! i'm so excited. good luck to you, I hope it goes just as smooth for you. (BTW, my recruiter is Jessica too and I just usually talk to whoever answers the phone and they can help me). :cool2:

That's great! I'm glad to hear everything worked out. She left me a message and said that she would take it off my application so that's good. Although I did get an email that was sort of cryptic. I'll try calling her again tomorrow. Let me know how things go :)

That is absolutely wonderful! It is probably one of those situations that you really hoped that it was a mistake but thought there is no way it was a mistake. Thankfully it was! I bet you are just bouncing off the walls!

That's exactly how I felt so I was SO ecstatic to see my e-mail today that said that they did mess up! Thank God I asked them about it instead of just being like, oh well, I'll just do it, because then I would have been stuck. And, honestly, I've worked Housekeeping before and it is not fun so I'm really glad to have gotten this all worked out!

Thank you! I haven't gotten my new packet yet so I have to wait to accept but I'm planning on checking in on the 12th. So I'll be there until, like, May 20th or something like that. When do you go down? I can't wait!! I'm hoping to work at either the Grand Floridian or the Boardwalk, what about you? Did you request any specific location?

I'm advantage, so i arrive january 21st-aug 7th and i'm planning on extending through fall if i can, and then going full time. or ransferring to UCF and then applying for a Professional internship.

I've stayed at the Poly, Saratoga Springs (my family's home resort for DVC), Old Key West, and the contemporary way back when i was 5:)

I would love to work at any one of those. I'm most familiar with saratoga springs, but i know that's DVC so i'm not sure that they put CP's there. They might, who knows, lol. It would be really fun!

Basically any resort would look terrific on a resume so i'd be thrilled with any of them!!

They do. I have a friend who is on Fall 08, and she is at a DVC resort. She had requested being at a DVC resort too.

oh VERY VERY VERY AWESOME!!! Is that something I could email my recruiter about to request it? I really don't care where they put me at all since i understand they kind of have to put me where the need me. It's A-ok with me:goodvibes but if I had my pick, i would love saratoga:)

It's worth a try.

So is this a bad thing? I don't arrive until January 26th and I already have a packing list started on my computer! I just keep thinking of things that make me go "I need to make sure and remember to take that" which prompted me to just make a list now so that I wouldn't forget anything. I always get nervous even on one or two day trips that I have forgotten to pack something. Knowing that I will be gone for 5 months is going to make me sooo nervous that I forgot something!!!!

:rotfl: no not a bad thing at all:) I had packing lists going before I even applied... yeah ok, more like 3 months before I even applied. I was just THAT excited:) My parents tried to keep me grounded and telling me that i shouldn't get my hopes up too much just incase and that i should have a plan B just incase things didn't work out in my favor, but i didn't listen to them and put 110% of my positive energy into the hopes that I would be accepted:) ... and it totally paid off!!!!!

I completely and totally agree! I believe positive thinking does lead to positive outcomes. I not saying that people should never have plan B's but I think people who have the mindset of "I will start a packing list before I even apply and not worry about a plan B right now" are the ones who tend to be the ones who get what they are after. I am still working on my packing list but I can already tell that I am going to have to find a way to reduce the amount I am bringing!

also. . .take into consideration that you might double your belongings and you'll have to take it home with you in one trip at the end. . .

my mom brought me and my stuff down in her van. and to get it all home, she took a load home at thanksgiving and another when my program ended. and the van was full both times!

My presentation is today, I have sleep and an electrical engineering lab between me now and then... that's too long. better get to bed so it goes faster :P
