spring 2009

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted so far!

I applied for the Spring Advantage. Had my phone interview on the 16th and mailed and faxed all my paperwork the next day. Still haven't heard back from them. Just 2 e-mails stating that I need to schedule a phone interview if I hadn't done so already.

My friend interviewed the day before I did, sent all his paperwork the same day as I did, and heard back from them yesterday. I called today and was told that my application was in review.

I HATE THIS WAITING GAME!!!! :scared:

I'm sure you'll be fine - you checked off five so you have a good chance at getting one of those. But i've heard of people getting a completely different role than any that they asked for so i'll be happy if I at least get something even if I didn't request it. I said no to the QSFB just because when you say yes to the possibility they will put you there.

Thanks for the good wishes :goodvibes I'll be happy if I hear something before my WDW trip in two weeks. Did you apply for spring or spring advantage?

I applied for Spring Advantage...the more Disney, the better! :teeth: I am totally jealous that you are going to WDW during the Halloween season, lol.

Well, I got in. Just received my letter in the mail-exactly 15 days after my interview. But it's not as exciting as you would think. I was accepted for Housekeeping, which is great and all, except for the fact that I didn't put Housekeeping down as a role I would be interested in doing. I didn't mention it to my interviewer nor did I check it off on my role checklist so I don't really know why/how I was chosen for the role. I don't really know what to do...I called my recruiter and left a message for her to see why I was chosen for this role when I never expressed any interest in doing it so I guess I'll just have to wait and hear back from her....I'm so disappointed.... :confused3 :sad1:

You should hear something soon, people that just applied have been getting acceptances pretty quickly. I thought the same thing! Three months just wouldn't be enough. Which role are you hoping to get?

Well, first of all congrats on the acceptance! I'm not sure how they place people but i'm sure your recruiter could tell you more. Are you planning on declining the offer based on the role?

Hmm, that's weird. Do you work in any hospitality roles at home? Also, which roles did you pick?

Thank you. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet; I want to talk to my recruiter first. I don't want to not do the program just because I didn't get what I want, and I know that Housekeeping would still be a good role for me since Hotel Management is my major, but it just isn't where my interests lye. I have worked in Housekeeping before and I have all the respect in the world for what Housekeepers have to do, I know how much hard work it is, but it's not something I wanted to do again. Gahh, I don't know, I just need to talk to my recruiter before I can make a decision...

Not currently, but I have worked in a hotel before, working extensively at the Front Desk. I picked Hospitality, Full Service F&B, and Merchandise. The only possible explanation I could think of for me being put in Housekeeping is that I accidently checked Housekeeping instead of Hospitality but I honestly think that the chances of that are almost zero--I was EXTREMELY careful when filling everything out because I didn't want anything like that to happen.

OK, I just received another e-mail from Disney regarding scheduling a phone interview, even though I scheduled and completed my interview over 3 weeks ago. This is the 3rd e-mail. The subject is "Disney College Program: Action Required".

Has anybody gotten anything like this? I called earlier today to make sure my application was OK, and was told that it was in review. What exactly does this mean? Do they still have it and are considering it, or could it be that it has been sent out?

I'm really getting worried now.

I am hoping to get Attractions, but knowing how popular that role is I'm not sure if I'll get it. But if I don't, I have a feeling I will end up in Full Service F&B. I have been working at a restaurant for two years now and I have done a LOT of hosting...my interviewer seemed very interested in this. Either way, I'll be happy with anything. ;)

What's your top choice?

Hmm i'm interested to hear what your recruiter has to say about this. I'm wondering what role i'll be put into now

I don't think I've posted yet on the boards, only on Facebook, but I've been accepted for Spring working in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! My dates are 1/5-5/15. I'm soooo excited!

Attractions was my top choice too! Then FSF&B, that's too funny! I think my third was merchandise...I would kill to work at the Haunted Mansion or Great Movie Ride :lovestruc

That's a standard email that they send out to everyone. When they say that they're reviewing your application it means that they're making a decision. You have nothing worry about!

I have my interview Saturday night at 8. I'm so nervous!!!!!

You'll do great! :thumbsup2

I see. Well, good luck getting it sorted out with the recruiter!

Congrats! :thumbsup2 That role sounds awesome

What did you say for it?:)

I said that I would be as sympathetic as possible and suggest some other rides. Possibly the TTA so they could still see inside of space mountain.

Good luck! I was really nervous too! I'm actually more nervous now...and I can't stand the waiting!
I came across this site that had some pretty good tips for the interview...It gave me some ideas for questions and things to talk about at least

DBF is interviewing Saturday too

Does anyone know why it's going to be 4-6 weeks? The recruiter (and the website) says only 3-4

They have a lot of applications coming in right now so I imagine that they're really busy. But it sounds like they've gotten back on track so you'll probably hear something sooner than those of us that applied early.

I wish I had check off more roles too. I think I only picked three; I should have done like five. Next tuesday will be my sixth week mark! :scared1: I'm starting to get really nervous

Next Wednesday will be my 6-week mark and I still haven't heard from Disney... If that makes you fell any better...

It makes me nervous! I hope we both hear something soon.

I'm just afraid that when I do get my packet it will be a rejection letter. They have to give those out to...

Oh, that would be soooo cool! :teeth: It's like being a character performer w/out the audition or furry costume. ;) I would also love to work Peter Pan's Flight (just because I love that ride) or Pirates (well, I have a kind of unnatural love for Pirates...:lovestruc )

It would be funny if we ended up getting the same role. :goodvibes
