Spring 2005 at BCV - When to Go??

I am beginning to think about when to go to WDW next year. We will be travelling with our (then) almost 5-year-old and 2 1/2 year-old (so school isn't an issue). Plan on meeting up with grandparents for part of the trip as well.

We own at BCV and will be staying there, and we would like to be able to take advantage of Storm Along Bay...so we'd like weather maybe up to at least 80 in the afternoon. Which means late March or later, I guess? This year, its pretty warm there right now. But usually in early March I am worried it would be kind of cool for the kids to swim much.

I hate crowds, as most do I'm sure. I would like to avoid the worst times for crowds this time of year, which I understand is Easter and spring breaks. Easter is early in 2005, on March 27th. I'm not sure what that will do for spring breaks...I assume the school districts in my area will still have them in like the third week of April. But I understand that throughout April there are crowds.

That leads me to the end of April/early May. Temps of 62/86 are the average (with record highs only a little above that). While I'd like it to be good for swimming, I also dislike muggy, 90-degree plus days. Am I risking many of those in early May?

So...with Easter in late March, what do you think the crowds will be like the last week of April/First week of May? I know every year is probably different than the "average", but do you think the weather would be good for swimming in mid-March? How about the crowds then? Is late March-late April best avoided if we want to avoid crowds?

Sorry for all the questions, but any advice would be appreciated.

We go every year for Spring Break. Ours is always the week of St. Patrick's Day, mid-March. The weather is usually PERFECT... around eighty degrees and little rain. It could be a little warmer or colder some days - Florida is unpredictable -- but when we have gone it's always been lovely. It's the kind of weather that makes you want to LIVE in FLorida...

If you go later, watch the crowds. As "Spring Break time" gets going, the crowds get bigger.

Thank you Colleen. Mid-march does sound good from a "perfect weather" standpoint, at least for seeing the parks. Just worried about the possibility of cooler days wrecking any chance of using Storm Along Bay.

How are the crowds in mid-March?

If you can hold out until the last week of April/first week of May, you do usually get some wonderful weather. It can get warm -- heading up toward 90. But, the humidity hasn't hit yet and there aren't those constant daily storms. The evenings still get quite comfortable. Crowds are not bad but, as word gets out about how great that time of year is, they are increasing. The Flower & Garden Festival also is taking place at Epcot which makes it look especially beautiful.

I usually go the second week in May. The weather is usually in the 80's, but the humidity hasn't kicked in yet. The crowds are not bad. The afternoons can get really hot. We usually go back to the resort after lunch and go back to the parks in the early evening.

As PamOKW mentioned the Flower & Garden Festival is in full swing. Staying at BCV will make trips to Epcot easy and you will be able to enjoy the sights at a leisurely pace. Your grandparents might especially enjoy the Flower & Garden Festival.

Afternoons are great times to hang out at the pool or your rooms. Or take buses to other resorts to check them out and have a light snack at their casual restaurants when it's hot in the afternoon.

I did do a March trip once and I didn't have much luck with the weather. However, that was only one trip. It was cold and rainy. But I don't think it was typical for March.
