We are planning on staying at the sports resort because we have two pre-teen boys. Who has stayed here and how is it? The pictures look fun but certainly not as "nice" as the other resorts. The pool looks really nice tho.

I think the Sports is way under-rated by most people on the Dis. I had a great time during my stay at the Sports It is actually a very nice resort. Much prettier than I had expected too.

I agree. The Sports is just fine. If I had to pick cons....they share buses with the other 2 All-Star resorts so you will mare more stops on your way to and from the parks. Also I think the set up of the Movies and Pop is much better than the Sport. Though it's not a deal breaker when I consider staying there.

Right now I'm contemplating adding a day to my trip and if I do I may move to the Sports since the AP discount is a little higher there.

I think you and your boys will enjoy it :)

DH and I stayed there for our honeymoon in 2002 (DH choice) and it was nice. It was clean, and colorful! Food court was good. If I remember correctly, ASSp is the first to be picked up and dropped off by the bus, so even though it shares, you'd be first. :)

We like the ASsports. I would stay there again. When they share buses, ASsports is the first one to be picked up and dropped off. We stayed at the Football bldg. The Surf's Up bldg looks really cool. I wouldn't mind staying that bldg next time. I think your two boys will enjoy this resort.

we stayed at sports for our first trip and we LOVED it! its a great little resort. Love the theme, so much fun. the pool is great. The rooms are clean and beds are comfy. Mousekeeping here was the best out of all the resorts ive stayed at. They really add personal touches with the towel animals...and yes, we got one daily! I love the fact that the food court played the classic disney cartoon clips everynight. we'd eat a snack and watch a few clips before bed. And as the others mentioned, even if they share buses, sports is always picked up and dropped off first. so dont worry about that. Its an awesome resort, i wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.

We love the sports. When money is tight we stay there. Usually stay POFQ. The grounds at Sports are well kept and the rooms are great! Love its the first bus stop. We stayed there when there was groups there also. It made the food court crowded and the pool. We just tryed to go off times to avoid them. Really wasn't that much of a problem. Your boys will love the icons. Take time and walk the resort and see them all! Have a great time.:)

My sons are both musicians and I am not at all a sports enthusiast, but we stayed at ASSp November of 2010 and loved it. If your sons like sports then they will LOVE this resort:love:! It is, as PP stated, very under-rated. Clean, not overly busy, nice food court, and first stop on the bus route! Enjoy your stay and have a "magical" time!

I want to add that at least in my experience the All Stars resort don't share buses very often. More times than not you will be the first and only stop on the way to and from the parks.:)

I just posted a thread about this resort....can anyone tell me if there are any groups of kids (like for Pop Warner or something) historically there in early November. We plan to stay somewhere (still can't decide) 11/3-11/8 and I'm sure my "tween" DS's would love this resort.

I just have a huge fear of large groups of football players/basketball players/cheerleaders w/o their parents running though the halls while I'm trying to sleep, which is why I am leaning towards a moderate, but my wallet is leaning towards a Value ;)

Thanks for the input, it's made me feel much happier with our choice :) Hopefully someday we can afford the animal resort but I know my boys will be psyched with something with sports for now :)

We stayed at the ASSp last year ~ I was a little bummed b/c at the time it was me, DH and our 2 DDs (who aren't very sporty, lol), but it was great!

We loved Sports! We actually loved it so much that when I made our reservation for our girl's trip this Sept, I originally booked Sports even though it was going to just be myself, my mom and my sisters! We just thought it was really nice. We did share buses, but as others have said, Sports is first to be picked up and dropped off. So on the way to the parks, you are pretty much guaranteed a seat (unless there is a huge line at Sports to get on) and on the way back from the parks, you will be dropped off first. We stayed in building 10, room 250 and it was great! We were right next to the main building, with a side door right by the stairs to our building and there was a little pathway through the "forest" area to get to the bus stops without having to walk all the way through the main building.

This makes me feel better! I had been doubting our decision to stay at ASp. We will be there the second week of June. I am still concerned about being there with sports groups! :confused3Has anyone stayed in the Surf's Up building? We have booked a preferred room.
