Perhaps they should so they don't continue to waste their time. Then again, because of the way this story has been blown out of proportion and catapulted as the top news story, they have no other options but to exhaust all avenues. I'm confident they won't fine anything that proves they had anything to do with it.

Had to laugh at BB's presser today. Earlier in the week he claimed he didn't know anything about the required psi for game balls, now he claims they follow every rule to the letter. Just like TB stating how he prefers the game balls and then states he can't tell the difference. Neither coach nor player appears able to tell the truth.

Guess the NFL VP, the special attorney hired to investigate, and the forensics investigation specialists just hired by the NFL can all stop the investigation. Wonder why the loss of psi doesn't occur as rapidly in other stadiums, be they pro, college, high school or youth ball?

How do you know they haven't? Just because this is the first time anyone has really noticed, does not mean that loss of football air has not been happening all along. You only know if you actually test the balls.

Although, being from Mass I am likely biased... I also do not really like football (BRUINS RULE) so hopefully that counterbalences.

I find this whole thing a bit silly, but perhaps that is my lack of knowledge about the game showing. But listening to the endless coverage (which is impossible to avoid as long as you have any connection to media in any form) I don't think that a couple of lbs difference in PSI really makes that big of a difference one way or another. Many 'experts' have stated that it does not make a lot of difference in performance.... and that there seems to be little rhyme or reason to what imparts a percieved advantage by a player. Some QBs like them overinflated... some like them underinflated... some like them new... some like them old.... and so on and so on. It is my understanding that the footballs used by the kickers are not allowed to be in the posession of the teams, and are shipped directly to the reffs... why? Because for kicking the level of air in the ball makes a real difference in performance. If the air is that important then after they are prepped by the teams and handed over for inspection, do not return them back to the team... it really should not be that difficult to arrange this.

If in theory the underinflated balls are easier to catch... and maybe if the Colts had actually managed to be in position for an interception, then the underinflated ball should have been easier to catch by the Colts too. Considering that the majority of the Pat's points were scored in the second half when the balls where changed, the status of the air in the footballs really made no difference in the outcome of the game.

Because earlier in the week he didn't know, nor did the majority of the league and fans. He doesn't prep the balls. He doesn't inspect the balls. He doesn't handle the balls. The only thing Brady does is select the balls he wants to use, PRE inspection. They are then sent to the officials for their pregame inspections. Once approved, stay in their possession until shortly before game time.

I think it's all the doubters that can't accept the thought that maybe they ARE telling the truth and are grasping at anything to convince themselves it really is a lot to do about nothing.

Bill Nye the Science Guy says the only way to change the air pressure in a football is by using an inflation needle. He ended his remarks with "Go Seahawks," so that kinda reduced his cred there.

Also, I would hope that with all of this going on BB would make it a priority to learn about the ball pressure if he didn't before. From what ESPN radio has said, most coaches no next to nothing about ball pressure.

Every person said it wouldn't matter. So why the big to do? Because it is the Pats. So oooooh, the balls were under inflated. IT DIDN'T MAKE A DIFFERNCE IN THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME!!!

While the outcome of the game wasn't close enough to matter, the integrity of the teams involved does matter. Depending upon which camp you are in, the question becomes: If they cheated with the required inflation of game balls, what other ways are they bending or disregarding the rules? Just adds another layer of distrust to an already dishonest coach and organization.

Since BB is such a control freak, the excuse of not knowing the rule is invalid. Don't believe that a coach who manipulates the substitution rules, doesn't know the rules regarding equipment.

Alot of people are cheering for the Seahawks now, even though they really don't like them either.

This thing has had more back and forth than a boxing match. One time all the balls were 2 psi under, now someone else says the balls were more like 1 pound under. Bill Nye says one thing, the science department at Carnegie Mellon University refutes him. It is beyond silly.

Not necessarily. Just as not all tires lose pressure in cold weather.

I thought it was worth noting that Coach Carroll spoke up and said he knew next to nothing about the footballs and their air pressure. And that he didn't know a coach who did.

When retested the Colts balls were just fine..... but who says they weren't over inflated to begin with, knowing they would lose SOME pressure. Maybe the Patriots were set up knowing they set their balls at the lowest possible pressure and if it was THEM that called foul (per the suggestion of another team or person?)? That would make more sense since Andrew Luck isn't normally THAT bad. Plus, the talk around the league is that an over inflated ball is harder to grip unless you have freakishly large hands and harder to catch, which could easily explain why the Colts played so poorly.

All that and what's been thrown out there so far have one thing in common.... its all just speculation at this point. It could be this or could be that.... we don't know and probably never will.

Contrary to popular opinion, Patriots fans are quite nice and can be fairly reasonable

Example, I'm not even freaking out because I can't find a reason Boston Cream Pie is called "pie" when it's cake!

Why would ANY team bother? Every single talking head has stated it had no impact on the outcome of the game.

That is the thing. It had no impact, so why would it occur to any team that it would give them a huge advantage?

As predicted, some lowly employee is taking the fall:

NFL investigators have zeroed in a on possible football deflater: the New England Patriots’ locker room attendant.

According to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer, the “person of interest” has already been interviewed by the league in connection to the team’s underinflated footballs used in the AFC Championship game against the Colts.

Per Glazer:

There is surveillance video showing the attendant taking the footballs from the official’s locker room into another room at Gillette Stadium before bringing them out to the field, sources tell FOX Sports.​

I tend to agree with those that this is completely made up drama to draw interest to a game that was not as of much interest to the public.

How in the world would the be able to charge mega millions for commercial time next year if the viewership is down.
