Sports: Deflate-Gate

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but being a bitter Bills fan, I haven't been following deflate-gate too closely ;)

The balls that were underinflated - were they only used by the Patriots during the game? Or did the Colts' offense play with these same balls? I wasn't sure if each team provides their own balls or how that works. If the Patriots, being the home team, provided the balls for both sides to use, then wouldn't the underinflation benefit both sides and thus be a moot point?

Each team brings their own balls, 12 each and each team plays with their own balls..11 of the 12 balls of the patriots were under inflated, by a couple pounds of air pressure...this is a proven fact, now who did it is being investigated..I don't buy the weather, sorry all the balls would of been under not just the patriots balls..and yes the colts balls were checked after the patriots balls were discovered and all the colts balls were normal..

Yes -they were only used by the Patriots. Each team submits their own balls 2-hours prior to the game for inspection. This is where the Refs are suppose to check the balls' PSI and a couple other things. The problem for the NFL, is that according to some ball boys -the Refs have been just handling the balls ..not physically taking a PSI reading. If they felt a noticeable difference the ball should have been inflated to an acceptable level. I saw an article that interviewed a retired ball "boy" who said that he had NEVER seen a ball rejected. So it sounds like, by Indy protesting, that it caught the NFL in a bad position(as if they needed another one) since the balls haven't actually been inspected thoroughly. This isn't to say that the balls weren't deflated during the game -it would be possible, but proving that isn't going to be easy. Im thinking that Brady and some other QB's like the ball a certain way -they aren't putting a pressure test to each ball ...if they like it they like it.

Apparently there is some debate about how much below the "acceptable" PSI level they were. Some sources say 2, some say 1.

Well, seriously. You don't actually think the Patriots being among the last passengers out of Logan before Snowmageddon '15 was a coincidence, do you?

Ok this has reached absurdity of epic proportion. Some idiots think that the guy bringing the ball from room to field could actually deflate 11 out of 12 balls with a 90 second( yes that's seconds) stop in the bathroom.

Now that's the experiment I want to see investigated - how long does it take the ball guy to pee!!!!!! I think Richard Sherman should weigh in cause his opinions are so accurate. Lol!!!!!!

Inflate Gate... Spy Gate... or whatever... I"m going to admit, I can't stand William Stephen "Bill" Belichick nor can I stand Thomas Edward Patrick "Tom" Brady, Jr. And I can't stand the New England Patriots(or the Celtics or the Red Sox).

I highly dislike Belichick and his personality and demeanor. I hate how from week to week he changes running backs as often as he changes his underwear causing havoc on my fantasy football team. I can't stand his hoodie. I simple can't stand him since his days in Cleveland. :)

I highly dislike Brady and his perceived arrogance... Can't stand that smirk of his... I can't stand the knit caps on his head during a press conference. I can't stand the "tuck rule" from 2001 with Brady (IMHO as with most outside of N.E. it was a fumble). I can't stand the havoc he causes my fantasy football team with his constant 300 yards and 3 TD games. :)

I highly dislike the Patriots first off because they have Belichick (LOL). I can't stand how they run up the score in meaningless situations. It sure bit them in the backside a few years ago when Wes Welker was injured in a meaningless final game and lost for the post season. And Patriot fans sure had a scare last week when Brady took a scary shot to the knees with a huge lead with 5 minutes left. The Patriots did a very unpatriotic thing when they allowed Steven Tyler to screech the national anthem in a way that has not been worse since Rosie O'Donnell performed her fiasco some years ago. And lastly, I am old enough to remember the snowplow game where someone from New England came out with a plow and cleared an area on the field for the Patriots aiding them in their 3-0 win over the Dolphins.

But with all that said I will admit, Belichick is perhaps arguable the greatest coach in the history of the NFL... If not the greatest then certainly top 3. Tom Brady, IMHO will go down as the greatest QB in NFL history. Sure, Peyton Manning may have better overall stats than Brady, but Brady wins when it matters... In the playoffs and three times in the Superbowl. As for the Patriots, I can never come to allowing myself to say anything nice about a Boston area team. :lmao: Ok, they did produce a couple of my all time favorites in John Hannah and Tedy Bruschi.

So there you have it. Do I sound jealous? Sure... The reason? I am jealous. I just don't like the Patriots (still hate the Steelers and Ravens more). My favorite team, the Cleveland Browns are pathetic. The last time they won a championship was the year I was born (1964). they have never been to the Superbowl... We still can't find a QB... And we also had Belichick once as our head coach.

As for Inflate Gate... I so wish it would be true and that Belichick and Brady had a trail of evidence leading right to their door. I doubt there is and perhaps they had nothing to do with it... Perhaps they did?... Perhaps the weather conditions only had an affect on their footballs and not the Colts. Either way, I am ready to move on and watch a Superbowl between two teams and two coaches I can't stand. :rotfl:

***this post was in jest and for fun. I certainly hope it is seen for just that.***

Okay....I was just going to ignore this, admittedly after chuckling several times....but, heck, when someone likes Tedy? Well, they're ok with me! Not to mention a very creative piece of writing.

Yet you do not find it strange that the man with a job to bring the balls to the sideline decides to relieve himself during hs big moment. Not to mention how unsanitary it is. I mean would you like to play with balls that were laid on the bathroom floor. :)

Really? Hate ALL Boston teams, including the Red Sox? Was getting Terry Francona NOT enough?

As for liking the Browns....that's your own fault! No one is forcing you to like them. :rotfl2:

I agree. BUT...and here's the thing...if there is no evidence of tampering, some people just won't accept it. They'll say Kraft/Goodell connection or smoke/fire etc....It may just be that the Patriots did nothing wrong. Maybe the Colts balls were at 13.5 and Pats were at 12.5 and they both dropped 1 PSI so the Colts were within range and the Pats weren't. Possible? Yes. Do I (or anyone else) know for sure? No. All I know is there is zero reason for this to have gone on this long, and that 99% of the "info" out there is actually just rumor.

:thumbsup2

Hate the Yankees more though. :rotfl2: But yes, still hate the Red Sox. ;) But I will thank Boston for Terry Francona, the complete opposite of a Bill Belichick; Terry is one class guy on and off the field. :thumbsup2

I'm hoping that one day I can say I was on this bandwagon when there was nobody but myself and a few other souls. But every year it is looking like I will go to my grave before the Browns are competitive once again. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2

I will admit I was happy to see the Redsox finally win a World Series a few years ago.

Where are all the posters that were certain it was all Bill Belichick and Tom Brady behind this INTENTIONAL cheating of deflate-gate? They. the entire Patriots organization were as open and transparent as possible. The VP of Officials now says there is no log or proof the balls were properly tested, only their word. So why wasn't Belichick and Brady's word believed? Don't tell me its because of their "history" because that's bogus too. The "spygate" incident wasn't denied. They didn't lie to cover it up. Just like they aren't lying now. Many of you were VERY quick to condemn them but now that more is coming out (or in this case, NO proof they were involved or even proof they were within the range to begin with) there's nothing from the peanut gallery.

My only hope is they come out on Sunday night and dominate every aspect of the game from start to finish. That would be the icing on the cake! :thumbsup2

I don't see what your talking about on any of the news organizations, I think most don't think anything will really happen to the Pats it will all be pushed under the rug....I am not going to change my views, and I know you wont either so while the NFL wont do anything most will still view the Pats as cheaters....

I guess you haven't heard about the way the NFL is securing the game balls for this Super Bowl? Each team has 54 game balls and the equipment manager for the Chicago Bears will be responsible for them from after each team's last practice, until game time. He will be the one taking the game balls to the officials to be tested and approved for game play.

As before, the investigation is ongoing. Where did you hear that the entire Patriot organization had been cleared of any wrongdoing? That isn't the case at all.

I guess I posted prematurely. I forgot they're guilty until proven otherwise.

No proof they were involved. NFL officials have no documentation of officials testing ANY footballs with pressure gauges. Without evidence the balls were properly submitted for testing and properly tested, there's no way it can be proved that they had intentionally deflated the balls to below the league minimum requirements.

Yes, I saw how there'll be added security for all games balls. I think its great. I also applaud the fact they may add personnel to handle the balls in the future and/or have random testing. The league, once again, has egg on its face.

The NFL has said that is the usual procedure they always use for Super Bowls, so this is nothing new.

What the NFL VP of Officiating stated was that there would be added security, the details were not all being released. So the added security measures are new.

You don't find it odd that only game balls from 1 team had the psi issue? I understand how hometown fans can blindly follow( Hello, Cleveland?), at some point you have to admit that the Patriots are not the most respected organization in the NFL when it comes to following the rules.

Exactly. In the Super Bowl the teams don't control the balls on the sidelines at all, they hire a third party (in this case the man from the Bears) to manage them.
