Spoon bread ? what is it ?

We are eating at Narcoosees (mainly so I can have Lobster ) and the surf n turf comes with savoury spoon bread . I have no idea what this is - I have had con bread before but what is spoon bread ?

Where I live (SC) spoon bread is made with corn meal. It is similar to corn bread but more of a pudding texture (ie the spoon part) inside. Actually I guess it would be like a soufle texture. We serve it with lots of butter and it is great.
