Spoodles or Mama Melrose?

I am having difficulty deciding where to eat for our last night.

We will be at Epcot in the afternoon and then plan to attend Fantasmic in the evening. I didn't want to do the Fantasmic Dinner Package because I couldn't figure out what we would do between the early dining times and the time for Fantasmics (9 pm). MGM is our least favorite park. So I had decided that Spoodles would be a good choice because its on the way. We have a 5:40 ADR which I figured would be enough time to eat and get over to the show and get decent seats.

Now I'm thinking again (probably too much), and I'm wondering if I should switch to Mama Melrose. This is not so much because of the Fantasmic timing as because of the child menu. My dd will be celebrating her 9th birthday that day and she loves pasta and Italian food. I had thought that Spoodles would be a good choice. But in looking at the kids menu, it seems the choices are mac and cheese, cheese pizza, chicken strips and beef and macaroni. None of those sound terribly Italian though given her mood any of them might be acceptable. But I look at the Mama Melrose menu and it also has spaghetti and penne pasta.

Would I be nuts to change just because of this? Spoodles seems to get better reviews in general than Mama Melrose. Can anyone offer any advice?

i finally tried mama melrose last trip and im not sure what all the hoop la is about-it was good but really just ok for us
this time im trying spoodles, and also brown derby fantasmic package
im hoping we enjoy them much more

Spoodles, definitely! You'd have plenty of time to get to Fantasmic by boat.

Can't you just order something off the adult menu at Spoodles for your daughter?

I agree with the others...

The food is MUCH better at Spoodles.

However, I understand your concern about the kids menu. Maybe you could try making the kinds of call that people make with allergies. Ask to speak with a chef and arrange for your DD to be able to get a smaller size of something meant for adults.

I've never been to Spoodles, but we ate at Mama Melrose was delish and the service was great. Granted we went there not having super high expectations because of recent reviews -- but we were pleasantly surprised.

Thanks everyone. I will leave my ADRs alone and we will go to Spoodles.

As for why we can't get my daughter something from the adult menu - First, we will be on the dining plan. I guess I could pay OOP but for an adult meal for her but that seems kind of silly, especially when she couldn't begin to eat all of it. I think we'll have her pick a kids meal and I'll let her have some of my dinner if she wants more variety. I never can finish everything anyway.

I wasn't suggesting ordering an adult meal but rather asking if there are items available for children that aren't on the printed menu. (Apparently at many restaurants there are.)

But, sharing with her is a good idea too. The appetizers at Spoodles are large and you could easily share food around the table so that she gets things she likes.

We ate at mama melroses on our trip about 2 weeks ago - it was the ONLY one of our ADRs we didn't like. Our service was horrible and the food wasn't impressive. I've never been to the other one you mentioned but I'd stick with it :)
